I recently attended Chyako's pottery class and had the most fun I've had in a long time. Being new to town, I wanted to find a class where I could try something new and hopefully make some friends, and I'm thrilled to say that both goals were achieved.

This class is incredibly intimate, allowing for a wonderful balance between learning the basics of pottery, throwing on the wheel, and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow classmates. Chyako's teaching style is both easy to follow and immensely helpful, making each session enjoyable and productive.

By the end of the course, I walked away with a real sense of accomplishment, having created several mugs and bowls that I absolutely love. Yunomi Pottery Studio is a hidden gem located in the Smiley building in Durango, CO. Chyako begins each class with a mindful meditation practice, which is a wonderful way to become present and focused before you begin the pottery work. Chyako is a wonderfully talented, patient and kind instructor. I have learned so much from her already and can't wait to continue the journey!
