I have been here 2 times before. I stopped by today because my mother and I are out of food. I was told I now have to set up an appointment to register and come back. I'm signed up but not registered? They turned me away. I now not only have no food but now I have no gas. Real compassionate bunch at this place thanks for nothing....

I went thru a really hard time when my son who has a medical disability got really sick. I came here for rental help abd some food since I don't receive state benefits. After picking up food earlier in the day I was told to come back when I had all of my documents so that a case worker may help me. When I got home to unload food after close inspectionI learned some foods were contaminated specifically a box of cereal and a box of cornbread. You could see from 1 box of cornbread that the company who manufactured that cornbread had sealed and closed 1 box but the other had laundry detergent in it. The cereal smelled exactly the same. The lady who walked me back had me pick up certain things. I believe she and her covoluteer knew what was happening. First I recall being told there was no meat but another person a behind me in line got meat. When I asked she gave me meat that had been placed in a freezer bag so it had certainly Been handled by someone there(illegal) they don't have a meat license! When they tell you to go to your car they will bring it out to you there is a racists women there who is extremely rude as if she is giving food out of her house. When I got those foods I noticed 2 items looked switched. As I said there was a element of racism especially when it was my turn to be called and although I had 2 number ahead of a senior the male who called back next person told him to come with him anyway to shop and he asked another lady to help me . I guess since I am a black middle age women I must not need anything more than that older white senior so no need to follow the rule of numbers. Finally the lady came and she made certain to walk me thru to tell me what to get as if I may steal. As I said ,once home I noticed something missing or different like I never choose peanut butter but they altered the bag and put it in anyway. When I returned to deliver my Information for assistance I was told that I didn't qualify although there was a clear disruption due to hospital staY and loss of income since my husband elected to utilize flex spending and obtain private insurance. I was told others don't have private insurance so I didn't need the type of help they would give most needy people. I was also told that this would be forwarded to a board for a second opinion and they would make a determination of my appeal. The same "social worker answered phone after I had called back a couple days later claiming "they said no". I knew she was lying but after they played with My food and gave me so much racial discrimatory vibe I decided not to return and to warn others. I had explaimed my son had a clear medical.set.back and shown proof but non of this matter for my urgent need. There should always be a report to shine the light on racism in Burleson to stop this old settler behavior. I never got a apology even after I reported the bread I had cooked smelled and tasted like gain soap. These people should be shut down. They should not get grants or any support from state weather it be taX write offs or another grants because the entire system is rooted in racism and the only nice person I met was a middle age Latina women checking people in and giving out numbers. It's so annoying because Burleson continues this behavior and the older folks who have lived there the longest feel they own and control. I watched a old white man walk around a black man very expensive truck at a walgreens to check to see if he had a disabled vet sign to park in a spot he wanted. The man had put up his windows tag as the old dude walked around searching license plate when he approached him the black man said something and walked into store wearing his Veterans hat but since this old guy who apparently was also a veteran he felt the right to investigate and question him. I can't stand these type if people. This further proves how racists this area is! Never go here these people don't really wanna help black folk and if they do the attitude is ignorant and demeaning!

Lady at the front dest was very passive aggressive and abrasive. Not friendly at all. I get the feeling she feels higher up and condensing to people in need. I would not suggest going there if you need help and a feeling of comfort and support from the comunity. There are much friendlier places that help with a smile on their face and actually let both heads of a household go back and choose food to ensure it will be eaten.

Called to ask questions and when I started asking questions she didn't have answers to her response was "I don't know I just work here"...... Ummm I have no words. I asked a question and I understand she didn't have the answers but to say "I just work here" is unprofessional in my opinion.
