I can say a lot about this place as a new member. First and foremost would be the friendly culture compared to other gyms I've belonged to. Etiquette exists here as does a variety of things to do to keep your body healthy. Very clean. Friendly and welcoming staff. You can join here for free if your health plan includes the Silver and Fit program.

A well-run community-centered Y. I appreciate the many group fitness classes offered, some well-suited for older members. Tia K is my favorite teacher, with an incredible knowledge of movement and anatomy, and a fun personality.

My son took swim lessons there at age 3. By age 4 he had progressed through all 5 levels and could swim 25 yard free style and backstroke unassisted and very well. So he was accepted onto the Rancho Cordova Blue Marlins Swim Team at age 4 even though most swimmers must be at least 5 to join. He has received 5 MVP age group awards and 1 most improved award. He is 17 now and may swim 1 more year. This success would not have happened without his instructors at the YMCA. Things have come full circle. Last year he was a lifeguard at the Elk Grove Aquatics District. This year he applied at the YMCA and was immediately hired. The aquatics direct knew he seemed familiar but did not remember how she knew him. I dropped off paperwork to her one day and she realized that she had been one of Vincent's Swim instructors. He loves his job. And I have taken yoga and water aerobics and cardio kickboxing classes there and loved them all. Great place for the entire family to go!

Wish they had a Masters Swim program here. They used to years ago, but it was removed. No options for serious swimmers downtown.
