I moved from Englewood to Miamisburg in Aug of 2024. I’ve been trying to find “my” new gym since. I didn’t realize what a task that would be. I tried out three others in the area. Those gyms weren’t terrible but something was missing. The gym has to be the right vibe, size and cost. It has to have the right workout equipment and be clean. YMCA Coffman checks all the boxes and more for me. There is something for everyone here .. CrossFit, strength trainers/body builders, cardio fanatics, swimmers, sports and much more. Everyone I have come across seems friendly and there to better themselves. The gym has been very clean every time I have been and the staff has been super inviting and helpful. They have always greeted me with at least a “Hi” when I walk through the door. The sauna is on my wishlist but maybe they’ll put it in for Christmas ;). Happy to report YMCA Coffman is “MY” new gym . BTW.. pictures online don’t really do the gym justice .

The ladies at the front desk with membership Susan and Janet were very helpful in explaining the YMCA program and membership.
The suggestion that I have is the ladies locker room need some updating. The showers have a great deal of mold on the tiles and the showers were not working that day only cold water I'm not sure if that is the case every day. Perhaps looking at updating the ladies locker room maybe taking a look at the men's as well.
Thank You

This review is about sports programs... terrible experience this past summer/fall. Two kids enrolled in soccer... . Emma, sports program director, sent mails that we didn't have a coach and needed to find one or the season would be canceled. A bit shocking since we had already paid fees and the season was to start in just 2 weeks, but several of us parents got together and sent coach options to her. She failed to contact them but never communicated that to us. Season starts, we show up to first practice, NO coach. Several of us placed calls and emails to Emma about status of coach, and got NO responses. Ultimately, parents had to meet and create a rotation schedule to coach games and practices. We didnt mind helping, but the lack of communication from Emma made everything chaotic. In paying for a sports program, parents don't mind helping, ut shouldn't have to actually do the job of the "sports director".

Twice now I've taken my kids up to this YMCA to take a small piece of their multi purpose court to play with them and get some exercise in and twice we've been kicked off the court for a karate class and pickle ball and volleyball. Their basketball court space is always taken as well by people playing basketball because well, thats what that court is supposed to be there for. This Y is very busy so it's not really an accommodating place if you want to just drop in and do stuff with your family. If that's your primary purpose, don't waste your time or money.

I am so grateful for the Coffman YMCA. I have had the joy of taking many classes at the Y, using the pool, the cardio room, the track, etc. for a couple years now and it’s been an overall lovely experience. Certainly there occasionally areas of possible improvement but the Y staff has consistently been helpful and open to input. The instructors are always amazing and the genuine friendships forged over the last couple of years are some I truly cherish. The Pound class on Mondays and Wednesdays has become such a refuge for me (if you haven’t tried it, join us! It’s so fun!)
Most recently I’ve had wonderful experience with Stephanie, the Healthy Living Specialist. The In-Body assessment is such a cool tool and I love that our Y encourages measures of success other than JUST the scale.

Very nice and welcoming people but they don’t allow guests after 3 PM in the gym and if you ask for an exception one time if you don’t know about it they don’t have exceptions,
So good but not flexible.

It's rare that you'll find me at any other Y in the area. The Coffman YMCA has very friendly staff and the facility is always well kept.

Had a terrible experience tonight, was with my wife, 6 year old daughter and 8 year old son. We were coming to get them warmed up for their upcoming basketball seasons, to get some shots up. After checking in, I got treated like a teenage thief over a ball pump. I brought an automatic pump but forgot the needle, I was pumping 4 balls and was going to do it inside the gym to not disturb the lobby, and was forced to run my loud pump in the lobby due to theft concerns. Then after I got done, I set the pump on the counter, my family went to the gym, and had an associate come TRACK US DOWN 5 minutes later asking us to return the pump that had already been returned! It was harassing, embarrassing, and degrading to a member. I have been going to YMCAs around the Dayton area my whole life and have never been treated so badly. Then got laughed at by another associate I was not dealing with (the one that tracked us down 5 minutes later). This is our hometown YMCA and now I do not feel welcomed.
