I’m really disappointed with my recent blood donation experience. It hasn’t even been 4 hours since I attempted to donate, and I’m already badly bruised. Everything seemed fine until the needle was inserted. They managed to collect only enough for the sample bag, and a little extra, but my blood flow stopped. I was poked three times with the needle going in very deep (almost the entire needle), and three different staff members tried to make it work. They used a tool that resembled scissors without a blade and another roller-like instrument to push the blood down the tube, but nothing worked. While I understand things can go wrong, I don’t think it was necessary to continue trying for so long. In the end, they said it was due to a clot and advised me to hydrate more. However, I’ve never had issues with blood draws before and I hydrate regularly, especially due to my gym routine. Instead of considering there could be a problem with the needle and trying a new needle or switching arms, they kept attempting. At one point, I even noticed my arm starting to change color.

Unreal how much people in this town hate working! Showed up to my appointment to give blood in this severe shortage to do a good thing and was denied because I couldn’t give exact specifics of my last donation. If I could give zero stars I would after the way I was turned away. FYI, we don’t turn away anyone in the their hour of need in the hospital, guess that’s the difference of real health care workers and y’all!

I have donated here 6 times and their service is excellent! The first two times were whole blood, and the last 4 times were 2RBC's and that’s because on my third visit, I was told about how I can help more people for whoever needs my blood, since my blood type is beneficial! So of course I wanted to help as much as I can so I decided to do 2RBC's and honestly, I feel refreshed at the end of my donation. Of course, those thoughts of the needle can still be overwhelming, but at the end, it will be worth it! My last visit was almost two weeks ago in January, and their staff is friendly and will ask how you feeling. Of course, when I would come in, it was empty since that time would be most of my free time, but definitely the staff was happy to attend me! If you are able to schedule online, I highly recommend to do the fast track as it will save you lots of time! Thanks for the great service you guys provide here! ☺️

Went here for my first time donating blood. Everything was efficient and painless, it was a very good experience, and they have great snacks for ya.

Big thanks to the gentleman who helped me, Seth G., he made the experience go really well, did a great job administering everything, and most of all, was really very thorough and helpful in answering all the questions I had. I learned about hemoglobin levels and how donating blood affects your body, and he explained things to me way better than even my doctor had. I'm very thankful he was so helpful during this process.

I have had bad experiences that causes me anxiety when I give blood, but this was a breeze today. I would happily come back without worry, and urge anyone considering coming here to donate to definitely do so.

Showed up for scheduled donation and no one is there?!? This has happened to me at the westside location TWICE! Also, another time I was told by a staff member during intake that I could not donate for a year because I had gotten a TDaP booster.

You can schedule your appointment online and they are very punctual. It took a total of 30 minutes to donate whole blood (that's including the pre-donation interview and stats). Friendly staff and great snacks for afterward. 😊 Come and help save a life by donating blood!

I love the Westside Vitalant. It seems like everyone is truly happy to be working there. You walk in and everyone is just super friendly. The phlebotomists are all very knowledgeable and always aware of donors' needs. I recommend donating at this location.
