I think this is a legitimate business: everything eventually worked out--my old junker apparently sold for $900--but like many very small businesses, COMMUNICATION needs improvement.
VFC doesn't seem to be able to tell the donor anything about the local tow company other than the window of time one must be on location. And the tow driver was competent, but knew nothing about VFC. So I gulped and signed over my vehicle, and hoped for the best.
Two months later, I received a notice that VFC needs my SSN for tax purposes, so I'm going to assume this is all above board. More complete communication of the transfer process from the beginning would help the donor to understand and trust the transaction.

Like some of the other reviews here I had a horrible experience. This company made it seem so simple, they contacted me with a tow truck company and the pick up was scheduled. I had to take time off of work to meet with the tow company but they never showed. I checked the reviews of the tow company and they were horrible. I asked Vehicles for Charity why they chose this particular company with such horrible reviews and the answer was "contracts". They have no way to check for quality control and your experience will be hit or miss as these reviews indicate. I would think twice before using Vehicles for Charity. All I wanted to do was give to one of my favorite charities and all I received was indifference. The only option left is to repeat the flawed process with people who do not care. Avoid this company and find other ways to give to your favorite charities, Vehicles for Charity will not care as much as you do. For a non-profit I would think they would do a better job of making sure you can give back to your community. Shameless.

My experience was great from the beginning to the pick up of the vehicle. (Still waiting on sell info.) Everyone on phone was kind, paciente and seemed well informed. The tow company was also helpful and they called me in advance to let me know they were on there way. I chose the 12-5 p.m. time slot so I arranged my day accordingly. Over all I had a good experience with Vehicles for Charity.

So far, I have not had as negative an experience as the other reviewers, so throwing them a bone ... still waiting to hear the outcome of the auction and get the tax paperwork, so I reserve the right to change my review. Donated car on 8/29. Have been busy so don't remember every little thing, seem to remember possibly having to place a follow-up call or thinking that I would have to, but certainly not as described by other reviewers. Maybe they had some inadequate staff for a while? Everything went fine for me. Still have to get taxes done so hopefully paperwork is correct, but all fine with the process.

Made arrangements to donate our car to charity, was told by VFC to sign our title over to them and a towing company would contact us within 24 to 48 hours to pickup the car. Two weeks go by and we hear nothing back. Called the company several times and was told they would have another tow company contact us. That was a month ago. Now we are forced to pay to have the title replaced before we can donate to another charity. This company is unreliable and a big headache. I feel for the poor charities that contract with this irresponsible company.

Update 9/29/2021: VFC resolved this issue. Terms & Conditions are now visible from their online form. I have submitted a donation and will update this review as needed.

We were going to donate a truck to Montana Public Radio, which uses Vehicles for Charity (VFC). I had VFC’s donation form completely filled out when I came to the check box that I agree to their Terms & Conditions, but the link for Terms & Conditions just takes you back to the top of the page. The Terms & Conditions aren’t published any where else on their site that I could find, so I called them and they told me their IT would fix the link. I also notified them of this through social media (FB), but never received a response. After several days without any results, I contacted Montana Public Radio to see if they could get some action since they are collaborators. The charity told me they contacted VFC and were assured the issue would be fixed. No luck. Donating through VFC began to feel like a bad idea. Best case is they are simply unresponsive and/or maybe lack the expertise simply to fix a broken link. Worst case is they simply aren’t transparent about the terms for donations.

They called me the day after I contact CPR about donating my car. The tow company contacted me the following day and it was picked up the following day. Seamless and painless for me.

Some phone tag occurred but the pickup process was smooth and straight forward for pur vehicles to get donated. Awaiting on the auction sale and tax paperwork to come through, hopefully that was as painless as donating the vehicle.
