Dear Sacramento Crisis Residential Program,

I am writing to express serious concerns about patient safety and supervision practices at your facility.
It has come to my attention that there are significant issues with how patient outings and appointments are being managed, potentially compromising patient well-being and violating program policies. Specifically, I have learned of an incident where a patient was allowed to leave the facility for a purported doctor's appointment on January 20, 2025 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), when most medical offices were closed.

This raises several alarming issues:

Inadequate verification of appointments: Staff appear to be accepting patients' claims about appointments without proper verification.

Lack of supervision: Patients are reportedly left unattended during these outings, which is particularly concerning for individuals in crisis.
Potential misuse of the system: There are indications that some patients may be exploiting this lax oversight to engage in unauthorized activities outside the facility.

Holiday scheduling: Allowing appointments on major holidays without extra scrutiny seems to indicate a lack of proper protocols.

These practices seem to contradict the program's commitment to providing 24-hour support and ensuring patient safety. They also potentially violate privacy and confidentiality standards outlined in your policies.

I urge you to review and revise your procedures regarding patients outings and appointments.

Thank you.

Turning point helped me a lot when I really needed it. The staff was beyond amazing!! There’s no doubting that. They absolutely gave out meds and never missed a single dose. 3 hot meals everyday with as much snacks as we could eat!! It’s a structured program that gives lots of freedom and resources to those who need it. I highly recommend Turning Point programs. Nothing less than 5 stars!!
