My elderly mom could no longer live alone, we had moved her in with us, and I needed to find a place for her to live with the assistance she needed. I was paralyzed in starting this process, both from feelings of guilt and having no idea of where to even start. After months of urging by others, I made a call to Pima Council on Aging and received a list of referral agencies. I selected Jeanine Darnell, with TLC Senior Placement, and finally made a call. Jeanine right away made me feel at ease and asked me to tell her what was going on with my mother’s situation. Jeanie just listened on the other end until I finished. She made no judgment, was supportive, and after asking some questions, she starting talking about different options. We made some tentative plans based on our conversation. Later that day, Jeanie followed up and sent me a schedule for visiting some homes with her the following week. All the stress I had been holding onto because I did not know what to do started to lift.

Jeanine was patient, always supportive, remained in good contact with me, and did not place pressure on my decision. I was impressed with the homes she selected and we had several long discussions about level of care, independent living, larger facilities, and how the small care homes worked. Within a few weeks, I had moved my mom into a home where she is getting the care she needs. Every day my mom tells me how good the food is and how the helpers at the house are so nice. I would give 10 stars if I could! My mother-in-law needed a higher level of care than she could get in assisted living and we were referred to Jeanie. She was a miracle worker! She set up appointments with facilities she was familiar with, She accompanied us to the interviews, and counseled us on the final decision. All during the pandemic! During an overwhelming crisis situation I was experiencing with my family member, Jeanie was called. Even though it was her day off she immediately stopped what she was doing and came to where I was.
