The festival every year is amazing. It is a joy to be around so many people who love hummingbirds. It's a great vibe! The society does a good job of educating the public all about hummingbirds.

We took the garden tour, it was lovely. All the home gardens were exquisite and the home owners very hospitable. We will do this again and highly recommend it. It seemed very well organized. Thank you for a very enjoyable morning.

My mother-in-law had this on her bucket list. She is 85. We live in NC and she lives in IN. We came expecting to see an organized event with an abundance of hummingbirds. It was extremely unorganized and frustrating. The bright spot of the weekend was a banding visit where my mother-in-law was offered a chance to release a hummer. Another was our Sunday trip to Oak Creek Canyon in the rain.

A year ago we booked a condo. In the spring we booked flights. The first week of April we booked birding and garden tours without receiving detailed information. We invested thousands to be here hoping it was worth the investment.

When I asked for details I was told to find it on the website. It wasn't there, it was never there. When we arrived on Friday morning at 8am, we discovered our first birding tour had left because we were not aware that they left at 6:30am. We were not offered a refund only another birding trip, which we had already purchased. We were not the only ones, we heard others grumbling about the lack of information. The poor volunteers seemed lost and unaware of how to help. Many running the exhibit area didn't know the merchandise or have change when my mother-in-law wanted to purchase items.

We didn't see more than 2-3 hummers on the garden tour and saw signs that said NO ticket was required, which made us wonder why we paid for anything at all. We expected a substantial event with many exhibitors, attendees and hummingbirds, we found a handful of each. The overall experience was extremely disorganized and disappointing.

This could be such an amazing event in the right hands. I hope it finds them.

Helpful information about hummingbirds. The place was closed when we went there because the people running it were on vacation. There was an empty feeder outside, with a fruit fly feeder to attract insects for hummingbirds to eat. No hummingbirds were around because there was no nectar. Helpful pamphlets outside.

Better places to see hummers would be the Red Rock Park. The Parking area attendant has his RV parked in the parking place with feeders. That place is filled with hummers of variety of species.
