I had high hopes that this place was going to be an amazing place to adopt a new addition to our home, but almost immediately the man behind the counter began to give me pause by his attitude and interrogation-like manner. The lack of young workers with a gentler way about them was also curious. Only the director was genuinely kind, but rarely seen while we were there.

I have had pets my whole life and love all animals. I was even an animal control officer in my youth. My wife also worked with a shelter many years ago. We understand and know how to raise animals, and our vet is fantastic.

Yet, we were not allowed to adopt even after driving for 2 hours again, so we had to bring our other dogs to meet the one we wanted to adopt.

I completely understand why there are so many animals in this place. People not run off by the man upfront are rejected if they have other pets and wish to use their vet.

I do not recommend this place, and I am sad for all the good homes it turns away.

Went here to adopt Freddy after seeing him on the local news. Very wonderful, friendly people work here and the place is nice and clean and welcoming. I'm so happy to be taking Freddy home soon to meet my kitty cat, Simon. I think they'll be really good buddies!
Brought Freddy home to meet Simon and there was some hissing at first...but since then, everything is going purrfectly (haha)!
They even both sleep belly up!

Pets for people are the cleanest, Well organized and most knowledgeable employees ever. and has been for many many years. They are a no kill shelter, think about that it's costly.
.Donations are not mandatory but you need to donate even if you're not surrendering please. I rarely have ever asked much from all my friends or and both loving customers of Lone Star Harley Davidson 35 years or our Gun Store next door but please I'm asking all now to donate in memory of a loved pet please. You're all they have. Breaks my heart. No funds from county or income. Without all of us personally. They really love God's fur babies in so many ways. Rehabilitate NOT terminate is real here. Gail, her loving hubby Linda and all I salute you! Also please spare a dollar, skip a coffee today.
Respectfully your lifetime friend

Love this place. Everyone was so nice. I walked in was live at first sight with my kitten. I love that they socialize the animal's. It took no time at all to introduce my baby to her new siblings. I highly recommend getting your for ever pet here😻

Such a clean place, polite workers and the kitties area is awesome. They were not in cages they were in a room with beds, cat trees and all kinds of room to roam. I'm happy I got Miss Raven from this place.

I would not go to this place. I looked online and seen a puppy I was interested in. So I completed the application. I got a phone call the day after. They told me to send pictures of my fence. I didn't receive any conformation confirming the pictures of the fence.

So I called them the next day(Saturday) . I was told they would have to review it and will call me back on Monday at 10 o'clock. Today is Saturday, yes a full week without communication from them.

They did not call me back. They never reached out. I Called them today. I was told to they'll call me back in 5 minutes. I finally get a call back. Just for them to tell me I couldn't adopt a pet because of a dent in the fence(on a corner near a gate). Which literally took them less than 5 minutes to review. They could have called me on Monday to tell me the bad news. I explained to her that the first few months, I will be Potty training them with a leash. But apparently that's not good enough.

She explained that the dog could jump on it and run off. Now thinking about it, a dog will always find a way out! Even if the fence was 110% secure. I've had dogs before, if you know you know!

The older guy may need to retire, cause he seems to have a hard time understanding whats going on. The lady who looked at the photos was condescending. It's a shame that it's so hard to get a pet. Especially since people say adopt don't shop.

These poor dogs are still ready to be adopted. Sadly do to humans and their ridiculous judgments and poor communication skills, has cause them not to be adopted. I wish I can show the picture of the fence to paint a better picture and the show how ridiculous her reasoning was. But I've seen reviews as well and realize it's probably safe to go elsewhere.

Update April 25, 2024:
I went to another pet adoption place on the 22th of April and have adopted a puppy terrier mix. The adoption took about an hour. They didn't care about the fence! Nor does the puppy go over there! My review still stands.

CONS
Adoption process time
Condescending Employees
No communication skills
Poor judgment

11ish years ago we had the pleasure of adopting Maddie here. They guided us through the process and we ended up with the best doggie our family ever could have hoped for. She crossed the rainbow bridge recently due to old age. Our family was broken with her passing but not only did she make our life so much better we know she also got a wonderful one too. We didn’t rescue her but instead she rescued us. When we start looking again will for sure go here first to find our family pet.

I came here to adopt a specific pooch, a beautiful 2 year old Shepsky named Kai. He was super shy, but a well behaved boy. The folks at Pets Fur People were greatly invested and concerned for Kai's well-being, thoroughly asking targeted questions relevant to his best interest, all while being immensely respectful while doing so. Once I made clear the situation at my home, and my intent with Kai, the staff here had the highest hopes that he would do well with me and my Roxy girl (9 month old Husky). Roxy and Kai are already looking to be the best of friends, and the staff involved with Kai were delighted to hear the news.

Other things of note, they were extremely helpful with anything I may have needed, and they give you some solid advice and supplies to get you started with your new pet (Collar, leash, treats, blanket, food, and all their paperwork). I am very highly satisfied with my experience here, and definitely recommend adopting from these fine folks at Pets Fur People. They really care, and it shows.
