This is a special needs program that doesn't accept special needs individuals with special needs issues.

My daughter is a high functioning Special Needs individual. She attended the Arc of Katy Summer program, as well as the day program. In 2017, she was terminated from the program because of, what they say, was behavior issues.

If you talk to anyone that knows my daughter, you won't hear anything negative. She is a polite, very social, respectful and just an overall good person. People like her.

That being said, she has had issues invading other peoples space and use to be touchy-feely, but she is not an aggressive individual. She has tons of friends within most of the dayhab programs in the area and in the Special Olympics. Nobody has had any issues with her and will all agree she is fun to be around.

During her time with the ARC, my husband and I both were treated unprofessional and rudely by the previous director/manager. I have no doubt that her termination is due to fabricated incident reports and this individual that did not care for my family. Fortunately for the other clients at the Arc, that individual is no longer employed there. I was told by a few previous employees of the ARC that other clients and employees have had problems with this director/manager as well.

Fast forward to this year, 2021. Since there was a new person in charge at the ARC and covid had closed her current program, I decided filled out a new application for her to attend their dayhab program. The new person in charge knows my daughter and encourage us to reapply. It had been 4 years, after all and people, behaviors, and circumstances change. I believed she would have no problem getting accepted. WRONG.

They don't give the benefit of the doubt to a person or allow for second chances. How hypocritical. My special needs daughter can't go to a special needs program that serves individuals with special needs issues. They base their decision on incidents 'reported' by an individual, who apparently had problems with a lot of people, from 2017.
