You have to fill out an application to view what animals they have available. I want a certain kind of animal and why should I give someone all my information when I am just looking for a standard poodle. I give them all my information they do not have one, wasted my time

The amount of negative reviews seem odd to me. I had a wonderful time working with them to adopt our dog. It was probably helpful we were looking for a specific mix (beagle/hound). We rescued a sweet little dog Sweet Dream House pulled from a shelter that was going to be euthanized. Thank god they saved her life. Everyone we worked with was extremely helpful, offering us help when needed. Dogs are not perfect, and they need time to adapt and get used to their new home. It took probably close to 4 months to say our new dog is completely adapted and we know how to deal with all her little quirks. Any rescue, especially non profits, deserves understanding and patience. These people are doing the best they can. I would recommend working with them.

We applied. We called. We texted. We were ghosted. In fact, we received an email from a volunteer that asked us not to call the phone number online as it’s only for emergencies. It was a rude response and lacked any common humanity between two folks trying to home a puppy. I hope the little guy finds appropriate owners, but it won’t get to be us.

I was interested in adopting a dog from this rescue. I entered an adoption application but never heard back. I have been around dogs my whole life. I groomed for 15 years and know a lot about different breeds and their characteristics. I could have given the pup a good home. I have a fenced yard and have always given my dogs the love and care they need and deserve. I was unable to have children so they are my "kids". I went to PetSmart in Easgate to meet her but felt judged by the staff. I was told the pup would be too much to handle but they wanted it to go to someone with kids. A bit contradictory. They spoke very condescending and as if they were the only ones who had knowledge of dogs. I looked at a few of the other pets but everyone I looked at they came up with something that would not make the pet a good fit for me. It made me wonder why the rescue even makes an effort and puts the dogs through the stress of taking them to the events if they do not want them to go to loving homes.

Terrible follow up/response etc.. It sounds good online but they literally stop communicating if it’s not a favorable or easy case.. Smoke and mirrors like everything else in life anymore. You try to do the right thing and still end up at SPCA. And all they say is “sorry for the dog”. animal “lovers” are so fake and think they’re so much more understanding. You’re not. Your human and overwhelmed like the rest of us…

We got our sweet Buddy from them last winter and had a great experience. I applied and got a call from Sue the next day. She made sure we’d be a good fit for him as first time dog owners. They require a week long foster to do a little test run and even let us extend it to 2 weeks when my boyfriend was on the fence. Sue was very responsive to my texts and calls about some behavioral issues he had in the beginning (that completely went away after a few weeks of training). She even offered a free one on one training session during this foster period and gave us a coupon for a local obedience school. They provide you with vet records and all the info you need and really try to set you up for success. Now my boyfriend and I couldn’t imagine life without Buddy. My parents and sister also adopted all their dogs from them. They do such amazing work to animals in need.

We were interested in adopting an 8 year old male. We currently have 2’males and because 1 of our males is not neutered they refused to allow us to adopt the sweet dog that needed a home. I can see requiring the dog we are adopting being neutered but one we already have is over stepping. This place is getting in the way of this dog having a loving home.

Don’t waste your time. We had an aggressive dog we needed separated from a home with children. Instead of helping, they gave us a guilt trip about how ALL the shelters are killing dogs. So… we’re just supposed to keep the dog and hope it doesn’t kill our granddaughter?

These people are useless, hateful, and spreading lies.
