Found a stray dog while I was on a ski vacation with the boys… unfortunately saw a dog without a collar almost got hit by a car so lured her in with some cheese into our apartment. We asked around and were told to drop her off here… we didn’t want to leave her outside in the cold so we called this shelter after hours and dropped off the dog at the their drop off and within an hour a staff member was nice enough to let her in and have a safe warm home for the night; then notified us that the owners were picking her up in the morning Which made us feel much better. This place was great and had great communication we really appreciated hearing back they found out who the owner was so quick.

I adopted a cat from here almost two years ago. Unfortunately, she REALLY wanted to be an outside cat and kept escaping, so I had to return her to the shelter. They were very kind about it, and allowed me to adopt another cat (which I was worried about since I couldn't keep the first cat safe!), and she had a friend in the cat room so I adopted him, too. They have the best cat setup of any shelter I've visited, and in the year and a half since I adopted Chandra and Euclid, they have followed up with me a couple of times to check up on how things are going with them. I can't speak to the dog situation, but since cats usually get the short end of the stick in shelter situations, the dogs must live in a palace.

We had such a positive experience. Everyone is so helpful and understanding. All the animals are in good health, and the outdoor kennels are big and clean. Inside the rooms are clean and smell nice. We found the perfect dog for our family here.

They seem to really care about every animal brought to them. We recently rescued a ferret that they took in for us, and they were so kind and thankful that we rescued her from a snow storm.

This place has awesome staff. They are very helpful and so friendly. The animal enclosures are super clean, and all the animals get the help and love that they need. There are rooms to hang out with cats and kittens, petting is encouraged! The dogs have very nice outside pens to play in when the weather is nice. It was also nice to see a very small number of animals here. The folks here work hard to keep the cages empty! We will definitely be coming here often to visit all the lovely creatures here. It's always unfortunately to see such good animals without a family, but we're so glad that amazing animals shelters like Summit County exist to give these babies a wonderful temporary home ❤️.
