DONORS BEWARE!!!
UPDATE: Same old same old. After 2 years, I recently read current reviews to see if this faculty has changed for the better as I have earnestly prayed. Sadly, some of the security are still belittling the residents, some of the workers are not portraying the love Christ, and they are not serving nutritious meals consistently.
I still say that God has used some people as a light to the homeless through Star of Hope. I have even had opportunities to donate as well, BUT NEVER AGAIN UNTIL SOME MAJOR CHANGES OCCUR IN THE BEHAVIOR OF MANY OF THE STAFF MEMBERS AND SECURITY WORKERS! As a resident from 8/20/21-10/24/21, MY HOPE IN STAR OF HOPE IS SHATTERED, AND THEY HAVE PERPETUATED OUR FAMILY'S HOMELESS STATE during the holiday time. My 7 children and I endured many traumatic dehumanizing experiences and unloving ways at the hands of the staff and security team at Star of Hope. The housing help was never open when I went to obtain permanent housing assistance, and our family was kicked out over my denial to sign a contract my case manager knew I couldn't keep. I don't believe God is pleased with the way me and other residents were treated (I am not the only case). It is out of concern, not anger, that I write this review, and I would caution you about donating to this organization because it is not as good on the inside as it appears on the outside. Despite our plight, we can still smile because God has promised He will never leave us nor forsake us. God has heard the cry of the residents (current and past), and He will fight for us all. Thanks for reading this post.

When I arrived, the lady explained that she been sleeping there and she the only one working since the freeze. I stayed in the emergency shelter room for one night right after the snow storm and freeze. So I thought I would get in ..

Single females and families were put in the emergency room because staff was short and no intake could happen until things got back to normal, which they did the following day. I woke up excited to get in! I was finally ready to change my life and take advantage of this program as a single 25 year old homeless female but was turned away because I did not have any children and I have a history of substance abuse. Please pray for me
Thanks and goodluck & God bless

Me and my 2 kids was there. We got treated bad. I had to go classes everyday. That is the damn prison. My room was always cold never no heat. It's a curfew to be in your room before 8pm. The staff will do room check. The workers stole my clothes and my kids clothes. They will go through items when you not in the room. The place isn't a safe to bring your family. If you get income they wanna know how much and pay will you and your family there. That place is messy not professional at all. My case manager didn't help me to find housing at all. I got so many violations there and I beat them all. Don't bring your family there not a good place. Go to damn classes everyday then once you done then you will graduate from a shelter. The food is nasty as hell. Not a good cooks there. When people come and cook, offer sparkling water, you give your child sparkling water it's a write up for that. Security is messing. I wasn't going to pay to stay there with my family. I was glad once I left there. You get a holiday pass before you can leave the facility. Your case manager want to see you for a urine sample to pee in a cup. Don't wash your hands in the bathroom or flush the toilet. The case manager will be listening closely to the door while you on the other side of the door.

This is not a shelter! it’s a prison! they treat you like a prisoner and pick and choose who to intake! Please don’t come on the weekends because they don’t do intake they will make you sit at the bus stop unless it’s a weekday no matter if you have kids or not! the security & workers are horrible here They secretly talk about you and laugh at your situation!

This place doesn’t take families in need they make u come everyday just to tell u no room as soon as u hit the intake office room . They pick n choose who they let in . Ppl have gotten turned down then ppl wait out side & they get in ppl have said they take their checks n they don’t give them them. Money back as they say they helping u save u cannot have a job for 3 months so u can attend a program. & they not cleaning these rooms n fixing faster for family’s really in need there are some disruption here instead of forcing these ppl to leave they hold them taken up room for ppl who really need it & can act accordingly. They don’t seem to have a metal health program as to a lot of these ppl are angry n aggressive 2025 they are drug testing the women n their kids to allow them into the program

This is an excellent shelter for single women and/or women with families who are in transition and need a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. It is a very secure new facility and a Christian shelter offering case management, medical clinic, clothing room, daycare, teen program, chapel services and various educational, biblical, job readiness and developmental programs to fit your needs. The staff are absolutely wonderful and very compassionate. As a social services professional finding myself in transition, Star of Hope has truly been a blessing to me and I am very grateful.

Great place to come to, they have really been there for me when I needed them. My son passed away and I was unable to work because of that so I needed a place to stay to be able to take time to grieve and get my life back on track and because of being accepted in I am able to do so. They are there for me when I feel I have no one and I appreciate everything they have done for me. No matter what bad reviews they get it’s not because of them cause all they’re trying to do is help people but it’s up to the people who come if they want to accept the help and appreciate it. I would totally recommend the Star Of Hope to anyone who needs help. They have so many amazing staff here, a clinic and classes to help people with whatever they need to get back on track with their lives. I’m in the GED class, I am so grateful for the Star of Hope and if I could give them a zillion stars I’d definitely give them a zillion stars cause they deserve it.❤️

I called to make donations such and blankets and clothing. As soon as I asked what time would I be able to come by, they hang up and never pick up again. It was a woman who answered. Very rude and I wonder if they treat people who need the assistance even worse.
