Great winter camping option with hook-ups at reasonable rates not too far of a drive from ski resort. Only a few sites so be sure to book online. Vault toilet only in winter is a decent walk from campsites. No AT&T cell service.

Absolutely love, Stagecoach State Park!

This was an amazing campground with splendid views. You can see almost the entire lake from the campsites. There were vault toilets, drinking water station, waste/ dump station, visitor center, and trails in the campsite.

We will definitely come back again. It was amazing being here in the fall for sure!

Enjoy!

Pretty place and quiet. Some bugs mid September ever with cooler temps. RV spots are moderately level with notes about near full exposure. Great for solar but winds can be high.

Saw a beautiful fox and lots of chipmunks, please do not discard food or feed wildlife.

Lake and hillsides provide nice views as well. Water IS available despite website not indicating in the amenities list.

We went there to paddle board and kayak. It was very pretty and scenic, but the water was full of algae and smelled awful.

We love stagecoach State park.
It's far enough away from steamboat to be peaceful and quiet. Butt close enough to go into town when you want to. Very close to some of the best fishing in the state. Also, very near some of the best hiking and mountain biking trails around. Most of the camp spots are well spaced out and very well laid out.

We spent 4 days here in a camper, in early August, 23. Except for the weather, things were nearly perfect.
Fishing, paddleboarding, biking, are all available. There is a marina with a little store, rentals and fishing excursions are available. Cell reception was spotty (Verizon) but wifi is available at the marina store. There's also a nice beach area... perfect for kiddos. Water-skiing is possible though we didn't see any skiing during our stay. The reservoir was pretty quiet mid-week.
Our campsite was Juniper 005, at the west end in the no-wake area. The sites there are more widely spaced and more private than those near the marina. Electric is available. The shore is easy to access, though fishing was difficult as you have to wade in to get past the foliage in the water.
Restrooms are available, though not all were clean. Multiple picnic and day camping areas are available, and there is a group area with water access for day rental. (See pics) The campgrounds are dog friendly ❤️🐾
There's a nice dirt trail around the reservoir...we rode it on gravel bikes, and took the trail up to the overlook.
The weather was decent at points during the day, but very stormy at night! When the reports call for late night thunderstorms, they mean it! It's not like the foothills or Poudre Canyon where you get a brief sprinkle.
We didn't go into Steamboat Springs, but in hindsight, because of the iffy weather we wish we had.

We had planned other activities for the day and had to change plans quickly so tried Stagecoach state park. It ended up being one of our favorite days! Corey in the office was the absolute best!! The park offers loaner fishing poles and Corey made sure the poles were set up and he provided lures and tips for fishing the lake. The state record like was caught in this lake. We were also able to borrow bicycles for the day and our 16 and 13 year old boys were able to bike around the entire park. We hired the small hill in the park by the lake with an easy path to the top and an amazing view. We also rented kayaks and canoes for 2 hours and were able to paddle around the lake. Thanks to Corey we knew where to set up our picnic area so we could easily fish from the shore and access our "boats" they also have a beach with swimming access and a beach volleyball set up. Ask the marina and they will lend you a volleyball. Last we drove to the end of the lake and walked over the damn and then hiked a moderate hike up for a beautiful view of the area! This was hands down the BEST experience I've ever had at a state park with very clean facilities, including bathrooms, tables and picnic areas, on site camping. Every staff person we encountered was friendly, smiling, and helpful. With checking out for a day in the sun by the lake!!
