State bowling event today is very unorganized. Our Palo Verde group from Sun City arrived at Tri-City bowl on time and the check-in folks had no info on our bowlers. The folks in charge insist our bowlers play amongst our group and not with other out-of-State bowlers in Special Olympics. The is very disheartening to the team members. Of all the years my brother has been in Special O we have never experienced anything like this. Very poor management for this large scale event.

Special Olympics Arizona has an awesome program that is Unified. This means that disabled and nondisabled people learn to accept, play, and enjoy sports and various other activities together. I volunteer as a Head Coach for Special Olympics and it is amazing what this program has done for my students. It has empowered students to be who they truly are and allow them to enjoy the world around them. It has shown my students that all of them have strengths in the most unexpecting areas. It is truly a unique experience.

This is my sons 4th year participating in special Olympics, he always has a great time. The only thing that bothers me is the times of the running of races. As many of you know Az. weather is usually very hot, n I think that having these kids run in the middle of the day is insane. Instead of having opening ceremonies at night you should try having them in the morning and let the kids run their races in the evening, when the weather is a lot cooler. Most parents that I have talked to agree with me and all have said that they would not mind staying till 10 pm or 11 pm at night as long as the kids don't run when it is so hot outside. Another suggestion is that you should try and utilize the whole track when running the shorter races 50m run 100m run, by having the girls do their races on one side of the track and the boys run theirs on the other side of the track. It really doesn't make sense to have half the track not being used, this way you would be done more quickly with the running events. I really hope you take this suggestions to mind. My son really enjoys competing in these events and hopes to do so for many years to come, but please be more considerate to their needs and well being. Thank you so much for everything you all do for these kids.

It is amazing what they do for those who we love that get to the opportunity to experience the thrill of competition and the joy of having crowds of people you never met cheer you on and congratulate you and tell you how amazing you are! The events they hold are like nothing these athletes would ever be able to experience if it weren't for SOAZ (Special Olympics of Arizona). Thank you all for what you do.
