Updated Post:
Everything went well until my last semester. I had what was left of my $5,000 funding pulled because my program was taking too long. I was told this scholarship was originally intended for short term certificate programs, yet the 2 year program I chose to enroll in was offered by SoLa (where I would take all necessary classes but I would get a degree instead of a certificate, in the same amount of time). I did everything I was told to do and was on track to finish my program within the 2 year mark (Dec 2022) and they pulled funding 5 months ago. The only reason they paid for my summer classes is because of Laura Doxey. There was also a lot of moving their goal post for what scholarship recipients had to do. I got the scholarship under one set of expectations, then over the years they added more. They want success stories but no one cared or asked about my 4.0 GPA, 4 time Dean’s List, and 2 time President’s List honors. Laura, however, is amazing and she loved hearing about my successes. She was the most helpful person within this organization, hands down.

Can’t give this organization low stars because if it weren’t for the scholarship I wouldn’t have gone back to school, but by the way it operated you can tell they are still trying to figure everything out.

It’s worth it to consider a scholarship from SoLa but ask a lot of questions and get your responsibilities in writing, upon first being awarded.

Sola is a blessing because this program has given me the opportunity to get back in the field that I most desire to be in. Education is very important and learning a skill is very important. I’m thankful for the opportunity and for Moe who helped me get through the process. I’m Excited!!

SoLa Foundation has been the catalyst in allowing me to continue my education. To be a volunteer associated with a organization as such, greatly makes me feel that I'm reciprocating positivity, opportunity, and love back into my community.
