My comments are based on my experience with one Coach and not at all based on anything or anyone else that is part of the Organization, I was disappointed to attend a practice where the Coach was addressing a group of 11 year olds and 10 year olds and while standing inside the Riverside Church building the coach said “in this GYM I am GOD, your parents have no say on anything I do or whom I play” I was very disappointed to hear the communicated message to children while inside a church building. I attended several practices where the children train relentlessly for several hours and don’t even get a break to drink water. The latest was the coach sent a message to cancel practice at 1:40pm on a Sunday, on his message he said he was sick and was sorry to cancel, practice was supposed to start at 2:30pm so the Coach was canceling 50 minutes prior, my issue with the Coach was he was not sick he was at a tournament in Brooklyn with part of the Team and was Canceling practice 50 minutes before when he knew about the change in schedule earlier in the day. Me particularly I drove two hours to practice to find out it was cancelled but I didn’t even get an apology instead I got a lie from an adult who is supposed to be teaching my child life values and lessons thru the game of basketball. I was in shock when my 11 year old son said “I can’t believe the Coach lied” what is more disappointing is I text the coach before leaving my home to drive for two hours but I was not informed practice was cancelled. Everyone is not ready to work with Children, a coach is supposed to be someone who instills confidence and values into children instead the Coach I’m speaking about spends more time putting children down and in example telling my son he didn’t have a chance against one of his players. Lastly this is an elite organization however the venues picked for some of the tournaments are in areas of Brooklyn that are infested with crime and in no way produce a safe environment for any child. 11U 2032 Coach for this Organization shall not be working in any Capacity with anyone’s child.
