As a visitor, I felt welcome and the display of song lyrics and common refrains was nice—it meant I could sing without figuring out the missal. I saw many children at the 9am mass. Loved that there is a gift shop in the Narthex.

The decorations are Catholic themed, but beyond that it reminded me very much of the Salvation Army church I went to as a teen. It was the essence of a prosperous Boomer parish: Protestant (or Cat Stevens) music from a folk band, beige, in- the- round architecture. The congregation clapped -six times- during Mass (oddly none at the moment when the Son of God became physically present in our midst in the Holy Eucharist, which may be the only time during Mass clapping might be appropriate). The average age of the parish was seventy, there were maybe six children. I hope that's just because it was Vigil Mass. Before the dismissal, the priest and congregation took probably 5 minutes to serenade and greet visitors (with more applause). It's fine to welcome visitors but please, after Mass. I didn't visit to be snuggled and praised.

If you want a reverent, worshipful Mass where you can focus on the Sacrifice and what Christ is doing on the altar, and not on patting each other on the back for being so very *welcome*, it ain't here. Those who wish to receive Holy Communion on the tongue must wait until everyone else has received, and go to side aisles after climbing over other congregants who were allowed to go forward by rows.

Second star because they preserved a real tabernacle with a central place of honor, altar stone with what appears to be an actual relic, and a thurible present but somehow I doubt gets used much.

If you’re catholic and need a place to “church” this is the place to go in Pagosa. I personally am not which is why not 5 stars. Seem to be very connected and updated. The food pantry is very good and organized. I run one at another Christian Church. They have a Knights of Columbus and other organizations that seem to be well run

Super friendly experience as an out of state visitor. I love my Catholic faith because I can attend Mass anywhere in the world and be able to fully participate in worshipping Our Lord.
