Wholesome old school stationery store. Walking inside feels like stepping back in time, which is a nourishing experience in of itself. They have a nice variety of items and the clerk was very friendly and knowledgeable. Found what I was looking for and more.

I wanted to tip to support the business but they don't take tips, so advertising is the next best thing. Definitely coming here for any future needs.

Great products but extremely messy store. Felt as though I was annoying them. When paying, they bagged my notebook and tossed it down on the table; no respect to the notebook I had spent $24 on. The notebook was 5-6 dollars higher then online and was still higher than other stores I've been to. I was in a pinch for a notebook but next time I'd rather wait for a store I'm comfortable in to restock it.

I’ve been to Phil’s three times. Okay, the place is a mess and must be off-putting to some but here’s why I’m about to go to Phil’s a fourth time: They have the French notebooks I use and they have the fountain pen ink cartridges I need. And if you dare to wade into the back room you might find something you could use but didn’t know existed. I found a useful legal form. Another reason to go to Phil’s is to deal with a couple of humorous, nice guys who know their business, are helpful and will let you rummage around but will offer help if asked. And, as others have mentioned, Phil’s is a survivor of an earlier version of NYC, a more human version.

Amazing. The widest selection of planners I've ever seen and all sorts of other office supplies as well; I wish I could stay forever!

This place is an incredible find! I had a Levenger fountain pen that hadn’t worked for years. They spent a half hour cleaning it and tracking down the issue, explaining every step of the process, and now it works perfectly—for less than four dollars! It’s also the kind of place that’s so redolent of a bygone City that you expect Napoleon Solo to walk in the front door and disappear through the back to UNCLE HQ.

This stationary shop is a jewel in NYC. Great service and nice vintage products. Fountain pens, stationary , mechanical pencils, etc. I could’ve spent hours there.

Wonderful experience selecting a fountain pen here! Fred was super friendly, very knowledgeable about fountain pen brands, and allowed me to test out many pens with no pressure at all (even helped clean out an old pen I had).

I went there today with four pens that weren’t working…the gentleman, I believe his name is Fred, was very patient with me and very patient with my substandard pens that needed some extra love. He fixed them. he explained the issues involved in the solutions that needed to be adopted and I was thoroughly impressed with his knowledge and even more so with his Patience with me, and making sure that all my questions were answered to my satisfaction. I left 1) wanting the store to continue in business and 2) wanting the store to flourish. There aren’t many likes them. They are dying. Breed…. Thank you, Fred.
