I overall enjoy scouting but the shop manager, Bruce makes it tough to buy scouting gear. I’ve been there multiple times to get a new pair of pants but every time he pushes it upon my mom and I to buy basically the largest pants size in the shop. We had to go back multiple times because he had “convinced” us that the pants would shrink in a few months(keep in mind my brother was flowing in these pants). Every time he kept gaslighting us saying “if that’s what you want”, etc. when we decided on an item he’d say “see you in a few months” passive aggressively

Overall a good council. Our scout joined the wrong troop of redwood shores (T61). Troop 61 had a good scoutmaster (Joel) but unfortunately he is overtaken by the parents especially the Coyer’s, the Jung’s, the Gulsen’s. These parents do the work for their scouts to get them ranks. Let alone sabotaging other scouts in favor of their own scouts. Add to that the age inappropriate conversions and one on one meetings some of the mom’s engage with the scouts. Topics intruding into scout family with toxic stories. I was stunned when I got to know the topics the Coyer discussed with our scout. Overall the council is good and has couple permanent reserves and so many great activities. Avoid 61 for your own good.

Visited the scout shop to purchase a couple of badges/patches. Friendly folks and had a bit of a chat about the groups and camps and other things.
