After Midas in Albuquerque ripped off my wife ($700 for a car battery), I complained to the NM Attorney General's office. I was contacted a short time later by a nice attorney with the office, who actually seemed to care. He contacted the business, and checked back with me a few weeks later to see if anything had happened. (Unfortunately, the answer was no.) Although I didn't get so much as an apology from Midas, let alone a refund, I can tell you that the AG in New Mexico is far more interested in helping consumers than the AG in my own state of Colorado, where all you get is a form letter telling you to contact the Better Business Bureau.

I filed a complaint with the NMDOJ, against the NM Board of Veterinary Medicine, because the Board had violated one of its own rules. Included with the Boards' complaint form is the description of the process & it states “the committee's recommendation and the Boards' determination are based on the merits of the case.” The Board didn't do that with a complaint I'd filed & it exposed the fact that the Board had done the same thing with my two previous complaints. The vet in this one had reviewed a photo I'd submitted via the hospitals' WEAVE system & told me everything looked fine, the oozing holes (in my horses' sutures) would close up & not to worry. Ten days later that same area was found to be severely infected. My horse suffered pain & a burden on his immune system that he otherwise wouldn't have had to while I had to spend more money & provide more care to him. From what I learned about the elements of malpractice, the actions of this vet fit the description or in the least gross negligence, both being violations listed in the Veterinary Practice Act. I got a copy of the audio recording of the hearing & learned that after the investigator finished presenting my complaint to the Board, one of the members asked if they'd had a complaint similar to this one last year. He was told yes, there had been 2 involving the same horse. Then he said, “Yeah, & the reason I'm asking that, because ultimately . . is this the one where, uh, they were upset that it got West Nile Virus but yet they had never vaccinated?” & he was told yes. He then said, “Okay. Uh, I move then that we dismiss this one.” The vote was taken & my complaint was dismissed. The Board not only hadn't based their determination on the merits of this complaint, but they'd claimed the merits that had warranted the dismissal of my 2 previous complaints were what warranted dismissal of this one, & it was all false. My horses' vaccination status had had absolutely nothing to do with the vets failures to treat his sutured laceration properly, nothing to do with him contracting WNV, & nothing to do with the vets failures to address his signs of neurologic disease, & a 9-page expert opinion says as much. This Board member, a vet himself, had no right to create his own & irrelevant reason for dismissing my complaint when the Board rule says determinations are based on the merits. And just as with the 2 vets in my previous complaints, this vet was let off the hook without so much as being required to take some continuing education to hopefully prevent another pets' needless suffering & death. That's certainly not looking out for the best interest of pets & their owners. Surely, I thought, the NMDOJ would want to protect the citizens of NM & their pets by ensuring the Board is complying with its own rules & taking appropriate action if and when a law or regulation is violated, but I was wrong. All the NMDOJ told me was, essentially, too bad so sad; the vet Board refuses to participate in our free complaint resolution program, we can't act as your private attorney & based on the information you provided you may wish to speak with one about any remedies you may have. This wasn't my first go-round with the AG's office so I can tell you that they like to use that crap excuse about not being a “private attorney” to imply the issue is only affecting an individual & not the general public, so there's nothing they can do. Given the high number of complaints the Board dismisses, I'm pretty sure my case wasn't the first, nor the last, where the Board violated its own rule & based its determination on something other than the true merits of the complaint. Makes you wonder, doesn't it.

I have contacted the Department of Justice many times when they were they were known as the Attorney General's Office. That's when they were there for the public. Now I contacted them and all they told me to do was hire an attorney. What a disappointment and wasteful use of tax payer money.

I'm so disappointed in the Attorney General's staff for consumer complaints. I've had to use them in the past with good results. Now, zip. They take weeks to do anything, don't respond and give up easily. I got ripped off and they could care less. Shameful.

Department of INJUSTICE it should be called. My son Jacob Landin was brutally murdered while I was at work by Steven Chavez! Nobody cares because "they have no proof" autopsy is clearly homicide with malicious intent. Raul Torres does not care because I'm not his relative so, instead im blamed & ignored. Thanks for nothing..

Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic our family vacation to Tokyo was cancelled. I booked the flights and hotels through Travelocity, and was having a really hard time getting in touch with anyone for refund. The company kept telling me I was only eligible for flight credit; despite conflicting information directly from the airline itself - 3rd party travel booking sites are a mess right now in the middle of this pandemic, and I was out a considerable amount of money. I utilized the arbitration services available through the NM AG's office, and Julie (who was assigned to my case) was AMAZING! She got everything squared away for me, and I ended up getting the full refund for my flights and hotel. She is an absolute GEM, and she deserves a raise! She saved me a lot of headache, countless phone calls and time waiting on hold, and gave our family so much financial peace of mind during this really difficult time. I honestly cannot thank her and the State AG enough for protecting my consumer interests. Job well done, and it is sincerely appreciated!

Posting this to let everybody know to be aware of abuse towards mentally disabled and seniors. The adult protective services are a big joke! I have been trying to get help for yrs. Now my grandma passed due to neg. And now my mother is with the same people and I've filed, showed proof and still no help! I seen bruises on my mom half of her eye brow shaved off while I was visiting at matt5 in Clovis n.m. I reported it to staff and they said it's none of our business take it up with the judge😡😡😡how awfull

Where are the real courts that follow the actual law? Are there any real courts in America? Family Court is a kangaroo court, a sick joke, a circus sideshow, a slave trade. They deny the natural rights of parents and children. They break their oath on a daily basis. Why don't family courts follow laws and why don't you care that children and families are being plundered and destroyed? I know quite a few victims if you ever decide to side with justice.
