Neighborhood Sun: A Leading Provider of Community Solar Solutions

Neighborhood Sun is a dedicated solar energy company committed to promoting renewable natural resources and fostering sustainable energy practices within communities. Located at 8455 Colesville Rd #1025, Silver Spring, MD 20910, United States, they operate with a clear vision: to make solar energy accessible and beneficial for everyone. Their phone number is 8886060054, and you can explore their offerings further by visiting their website at https://neighborhoodsun.solar/.

### Core Services and Specializations

Neighborhood Sun specializes in the development and implementation of community solar gardens. This innovative approach allows individuals and businesses who may not be able to install traditional rooftop solar panels – due to shading, building restrictions, or other factors – to participate in solar energy generation and benefit from reduced electricity costs. They essentially create shared solar facilities where multiple users contribute to a single solar array, sharing the generated electricity and associated savings.

Their services typically encompass:

* Site Assessment: Evaluating potential locations for community solar gardens, considering factors like sunlight exposure, grid connectivity, and land availability.
* Project Development: Managing all aspects of the solar garden project, from securing permits and financing to system design and construction.
* Community Engagement: Working closely with local communities to ensure projects align with their needs and goals.
* Subscription Management: Facilitating the enrollment of subscribers in the solar garden and managing their individual energy credits.
* Ongoing Monitoring and Maintenance: Ensuring the solar garden operates efficiently and reliably throughout its lifespan.

### Accessibility and Customer Experience

Neighborhood Sun places a strong emphasis on customer service and accessibility. They offer a wheelchair-accessible car park and a wheelchair-accessible entrance, demonstrating their commitment to inclusivity. Positive customer feedback highlights the patience and thoroughness of their representatives, such as Luis Santiago, who consistently receives praise for his responsiveness and detailed explanations. The core concept of community solar gardens – a truly beneficial idea – is also frequently mentioned as a key strength.

### Addressing Potential Challenges

While overwhelmingly positive, some users have noted a delay in the completion of their solar garden projects. A common theme in feedback suggests the process of “coming online” can take longer than initially anticipated, though it’s generally understood that external factors can contribute to these timelines. The company seems to acknowledge this challenge and is actively working to streamline the process.

* Community Focus: Neighborhood Sun’s model fosters a sense of collective benefit and shared responsibility for renewable energy.
* Accessibility: Their commitment to accessibility ensures that a wider range of individuals can participate in solar energy.

Commenting on 3 things. (1) Customer service: Luis Santiago was wonderful. He was extremely patient with me and very thorough in his answers. I had talked to another rep much earlier in the year and was equally satisfied. (2) The idea. Having a community solar garden is a terrific idea. I wish we had more. (3) But it has taken them f-o-r-e-v-e-r to come online. I doubt it is all their fault, but, nonetheless, it's been slow in coming.

Was notified about this program in February and signed up shortly thereafter, and am still waiting for my solar farm to go live. Was first told it'd go live in July, now am being told maybe August. I will give them 5 stars once I actually start seeing results for signing up, but until then I am keeping this review at only three stars as nothing was communicated when signing up about having to wait this long for any sort of benefits. I thought it would be immediate, as well as receiving my $50 gift card for signing up, but obviously that's not the case, just wish they had conveyed that up front.

Neighborhood Sun has been amazing! I have been a customer for over 1 year and can assure there are no gimmicks, hidden fees or hassles! I was always interested in solar energy but didn't want any upfront costs, maintenance or panels on my roof or property. This seemed too good to be true. It is everything I wanted! I am affiliated with a local solar farm in a nearby town. There was a simple sign up process and after that I have saved $45-$75 per month! Jen Hatala has been an amazing customer service rep and has always promptly responded to any questions I had. I recommend this program to everyone who wants to save $ and help the environment! win-win : -)

We love knowing that we are helping solar energy contribute to our region's energy mix through our utility bills--and appreciate the discount in our bill while we're doing "right action" in this way. And Zoe Perea Maldonado offered excellent, knowledgeable and patient assistance in answering my questions and making it easy to sign up with a new contract. I so appreciate dealing with a real human being like Zoe, who I felt held me throughout the process, rather than trying renewal alone online or via an AI chat bot that only can answer limited questions in limited ways. I hope Neighborhood Sun will always keep Zoe and human folks like her on staff!

I was very impressed with Alison River's quick acceptance of my need to delay a payment invoice for my monthly Community Solar Invoice as I will be out of the country. As I will return home June 30th, she said that the auto-pay would not go through until I call her July 1, 2025. That was a customer service - "5-Star" highlight! I much appreciated Alison's help

The program was a little confusing at first. When someone offered to save me money on my utility bills at no cost, I was very skeptical about joining the program. But Zoe Maldonado of customer development explained it to me in a way that was clearly understandable and made sense. I'm now a new member of Neighborhood Sun and looking forward to saving money on my utility bills.

We've had trouble-free service with Neighborhood Sun for more than five years. It's a no brainer. They offer discounted rates on electricity and it' friendlier to the environment. Why pay standard rates through your utility when you can get a continuous discount through NS?

So I was an Arcadia customer for years. I moved and changed electric companies and so canceled my Arcadia account. Neighborhood took over the solar farm that I had been a part of. I emailed them letting them know that I was no longer a customer and to please take me off their list. I mentioned that I had a solar credit sitting on my National Grid account that I was told I could transfer to another National Grid account or otherwise I would lose it. My case was escalated to Jen Hatala. She was AMAZING!! She fought to get that credit refunded to me, it wasn't a small one. She stayed in constant communication with updates and when I contacted her to let her know I hadn't received payment yet, she got right on it. She kept me apprised of every step and let me know when a check was cut. The customer service I received, when I'm not even a customer, was second to none. Makes me reconsider doing business with them! Thank you so much Jen!
