This last Valentine’s Day my Valentine and I recommitted to supporting local theatre and visited Miners Alley Performing Arts Center for the first time. We saw the aptly-timed two hander, Love Letters, a funny and poignant journey of close (but very different) friends who bond deeply through 50 years of exchanging letters (actual letters on paper, with stamps, carried by the post office).

The players (obviously community faves) were perfectly cast and, by the play’s end, I felt I’d known their characters a long time. I was really drawn into their complex lives and realized this kind of production is every bit as moving and meaningful as big, flashy ones that often cost too much for the average person to see. Our tickets were reasonable and are helping to pay for a remarkable playhouse expansion in the works. Everyone is excited about it.

This new-theatre experience was just what I’d missed since before the pandemic; this easy familiarity and warmth I sensed around me when I’d first walked in. This feeling will bring me back here. Having lived rural for many years - and now with more time behind me than in front - I know how precious this environment is, this little gem created by people coming together to nurture and preserve something magical. They’re going to grow the new playhouse with brick and mortar, but the real theatre is the spirit of the people who love and share it.

Thank you, we had the perfect time. We’ll be back.

This place has great shows and great pricing. There is not a bad seat in the house and staging and sound are always top notch! Employees are always polite and friendly. They have a very nice bar area and room to hang out before the performance. I highly recommend Miners Alley for anyone wanting to see quality performances. . Recently saw legend of sleepy Hollow. Very cute. Mainly for the kiddos, but fun and entertaining ! The actor who played Ichabod Crane is very talented!

Same welcoming vibe, more breathing room inside. The new location at 1100 Miners Alley feels more like home every day. Make sure you visit sooner than later so you can see it grow in its homage to the first space on Washington St as well as to Meyers Hardware, which was the original business in the building. Did I mention the shows are TOP NOTCH too? And how close you get to be to the show at the price points offered? Fantastic.

We just saw the Nutcracker story, and I was not very impressed. It felt expensive for the quality of the performance. Maybe if kid tickets were closer to $5-10 each, it would feel more worth it. The actors stumbled over their lines a few times. My kids 7, 5 and 3 seemed to enjoy it though. I do like the interaction with the audience.
Also, I'm not sure why B Ryan's information on their pamphlet needs to include "just your typical disabled cancer surviving non-binary agnostic Jew". That has nothing to do with his acting career and isn't of importance. The other actor/actresses bios don't include this kind of information.
We probably wouldn't return.

Celebrating my 60th Birthday in Golden and got SO lucky to get the last ticket for this show. I didn’t have high expectations as it’s a small venue, but you’d be AMAZED how much talent is packed in here! All the artists have incredible voices and stage presence. If you’ve never seen the movie, you will love the way this cast takes you through the full dilemma of men who are out of work, broke and have little self-esteem intact. The characters are so engaging and so easy to relate to. A Rest room break during intermission allowed me to get toilet paper I desperately need for my tears of laughter and the best Old Fashioned at the full bar. The bartenders know what they’re doing and are so friendly so please tip well! You HAVE to see this performance Ladies! It makes for a great Ladies night out but the men will definitely relate and maybe even get lucky afterwards!
WARNING: These are NOT senior care home patients and they have some serious moves and better hips! There are no pictures allowed as this local cast with their newly-found self-esteem bring you the FULL MONTY! A nearby Defibrillator might be recommended! 😜

This was a great venue! It was large enough to accommodate a good-sized crowd and still seem cozy. Attendants help find your seat, and bar amenities were a bonus. Lighting and sound systems were spot on. Not to mention the play was fantastic!
