A culture of medical neglect permeates this place. During my stay I witnessed fellow patients repeatedly given food that they were allergic to or couldn't eat for various health reasons. The social workers were fantastic, but the group therapy sessions often crossed the line into toxic positivity. They also lock your room after breakfast while giving you almost nothing to do.

Now here's the worst part. My nurse practitioner routinely confused me with other patients, and even prescribed medication based on indications that I don't have. I'm honestly scared for patients who are admitted to this place, because the staff don't know what they're doing. It's only a matter of time before someone gets the wrong pill.

David(social worker)
I cannot believe you manipulated me into going to sojourn Center for outpatient care….The only good part of my stay at medical city, mental health and wellness-Frisco were the nurses and Techs!

If you care about your loved ones-do not send them to this facility.

This was hands-down, the worst experience of my life. I checked myself into a mental health facility due to severe trauma and abuse. The referral received by my social worker (David) from Medical City Mental Health and Wellness-Frisco was hands-down the worst referral ever received for extended care. I willingly went to both medical city as well as Sojourn for outpatient care. Unfortunately, I was lied to and manipulated throughout the process. I’m not one to write many reviews, you can look at my profile. However, Mental health care is extremely important and adults, parents and young kids should be guided in the right direction. When deciding where to go for IOP/PHP care. This was not a safe space. I wouldn’t extensively review a company unless it was absolutely necessary. This is mental healthcare we’re talking about… This is an honest review from an individual that has been through it all. Again, this is purely to help those who are considering outpatient care at Sojourn Center. Reach out to me if you have questions or concerns via google. I don’t want others to go through the same thing.

David should be fired for doing this to a patient.

PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE GOING.

Unkind, uncaring, and disrespectful are some words to describe the doctor, nurses, and techs working at this facility. The lack of communication and consistency in care is astounding. If I could give zero stars, I would. Do not go to this facility and if you truly care for your loved ones, you won't send them here.
Please also note that they respond to all reviews here with the same canned response. Further proof of their inability to care or take responsibility.

It is dirty beyond belief totally disgusting! 95% of the staff are rude disrespectful and treat you like you’re stupid! They have no sympathy or empathy for the patients. They are lazy and the rules change on a daily basis. They show no dignity and I would never go there again or send anyone I know. That place should be shut down!

My niece is currently in the facility involuntarily and she works for the state of Texas. I’m scared for her life. During our calls I can hear staff members being rude to her, laughing, and giving invalid information. She’s been giving medication that she’s never been on against her request. My entire family has been calling the facility with several staff members advising us that we’ll be included in meetings and medical plans. Every meeting we’ve received a time on has been missed. The patient advocates that we’ve been directed to have only been stalling. The entire staff are not equipped and trained to run such a facility. My sisters and niece witnessed a violent patient attack her mother and the staff left my family with that patient putting their lives in danger. I would encourage anyone with loved ones that have been at this facility at any point to seek an attorney and pursue all legal actions against the entire facility! The patient advocate is NOT advocating for the patients. I’ve been recording and keep documentation since Tuesday. Keep reporting this facility it’s scary to know that they’ll put anything in your file and give medication to sedate. My nieces file says she does not have a support system yet her mother and sister have been present the entire time, her aunt flew in and has been present, her oldest sister flew in! Her support system has no limit. My niece was simply stressed with the anniversary of her grandmother passing which is completely normal and this facility has noted that she has schizophrenia. How would a supervisor for the Department of Texas be allowed to hold a position for almost a decade with no disciplinary actions or documentation of a serious mental health condition. I’ve never been so scared for an individuals well being than I am today. Anyone in this facility is not safe. Violent patients are being mixed with no violent patients. 72 hour holds go immediately to a 7 day medical hold. These things are occurring for financial gain. This facility is draining insurance companies and families. Destroying lives that they’re suppose to be helping. PTSD would be the least of your worries attending this facility

My daughter stayed here for two days back in December of 2022. I didn’t leave a review back then because I was busy helping my daughter recover from the hellish experience she had at Haven behavioral Hospital. If you truly care for your loved one, please do not take them here.

This facility was horrible. There was maybe 1.5 hours of "therapy" a day. The rest of the time you could color, watch tv, or lay in your room. Some of the staff was friendly, while others had no empathy and were loud and obnoxious at the nurses station. When another patient was being verbally aggressive to me and other peers I told my social worker and he told me "you're in a mental facility" like that's what is expected and I shouldn't be protected from that. They woke me up in the middle of the night to have me change rooms since my roommate was transgender....they had all day to think about that and decided to wait until midnight while I was sleeping to do it. When I went into the new room there was a bottle of bleach that was left in the bathroom from the cleaning staff. Luckily I was sane enough to give it the staff. I honestly regressed from this facility. I would not recommend this facility to others.
