Starting a business can be scary and overwhelming. When I first moved to San Luis Obispo in 2010, I needed to figure out where to begin. So, I searched for resources online and found MCSC and the Women's Business Center. Immediately I felt I had somewhere to go to with any questions I might have about starting a business. Not only did I take the startup training class they offered back then, but I sought expert consulting related to marketing, bookkeeping, as well as technical help. I've been very involved with this organization since then, as a client and local business supporting its vision and mission to help others share their bigger purpose, serve others, and become leaders in our community. I am still determining what I would have done with the help of this organization and the excellent staff they have always had to support local businesses. MCSC Women's Business Center of SLO County helped me and my husband learn more about the kind of business we wanted to open. I feel grateful for the instruction the women's business center has provided for FREE to me and my community. During this 12 week class I learned and became confident in all aspects of starting and growing my small businesses a sole- proprietor. I am doing the work and feeling so supported by my instructors to further my small business plans. I walked into the MCSC Women's Business Center to say hello and see what programs were offered. I was greeted by Holly who was extremely kind and personable. I was shocked with how many resources and help they are able to provide at no cost. The Women's Business Center of SLO helped me in so many ways as an entrepreneur. From leaning about different types of business entities to solid and amazing support as my business grew faster and larger (from 6 students and 1 teacher to two centers, 24 staff and the capacity for 120 children)!.
