Robert Baskin (see photos) is a 76 year old resident of Clarksville since 2015. He spent 43 years and 3 months working as a mechanic for Nashville City Transit in night shifts while cleaning carpets in the day. He was married for a good run of 30 years. He has blessed Manna Cafe with his presence and service as a willfully volunteer for the last 9 years. For 9 years three days a week he has come and worked in this warehouse sorting out food distribution. He makes no excuses. He walks around with his walker in the warehouse, opens boxes, moves crates, works the pallet stacker and sorts items to be distributed. The whole load - pushing around a walker. His years at transit taught him "a parked car will never go anywhere".

*This is my favorite mission here. Kenny and Vicky York have been a tremendous inspiration in my life. Their love and service for others cataclysmically changed my heart. Please go to the website and sign up to serve. There are many ways and days to serve and you can just show up and tell them you are clueless and to show you. Serving others heals.

So grateful for the people that run this organization! I have terminal brain cancer, am out of work, and am a single dad of three kids who live with me 7 days a week. They’ve saved me so much money and lifted so much of a burden!

I don't know what we'd have done without them for so many years.
