There are a few things I do like about Longmont Athletic Club. It’s rarely crowded, which makes for a more relaxed experience. You also don’t get the typical influencer crowd—no one is filming themselves for social media, which is a nice change from many modern gyms. I also appreciate that the sauna gets really hot, which I enjoy.

That said, the negatives heavily outweigh the positives.

The facility is extremely outdated. The men’s locker room still has open showers, which feels wildly inappropriate for 2025. My wife tells me the women’s showers are private and individual, so it’s frustrating that the men’s side hasn’t been brought up to the same standard. On top of that, it just doesn’t feel clean. I’ve overheard staff saying that the owner refuses to bring in a professional cleaning crew, and instead relies on whoever is working to handle cleaning duties. That’s not acceptable—especially in locker rooms.

Worse yet, there’s a consistently weird vibe in the men’s locker room. I’ve seen older men casually standing completely naked in front of mirrors or slowly walking around the space as if they’re trying to air-dry. It’s not just the usual post-shower walk to your locker—it’s… bizarre. I’ve never seen this happen at any other gym I’ve belonged to.

The gym also seems severely understaffed. Most of the time there’s only one employee working, which feels like a safety concern. The machines are spread out, and if someone were to get hurt or need help, it’s unclear how quickly anyone could respond. Adding to that concern: unlike most modern gyms, there are very few visible security cameras throughout the facility. That also feels like a major red flag when it comes to member safety.

While I enjoy the heat of the sauna, I’ve also seen people staying in there far too long—pushing themselves to the point of looking dizzy and disoriented when they finally exit. It doesn’t seem like anyone is monitoring or setting guidelines for safe use.

The equipment and facility upkeep is lacking in general. Several machines are in need of maintenance. The floor mats in the boxing and heavy bag area are falling apart and look like they haven’t been cleaned in years. There are posted rules about proper footwear (no street shoes, only boxing shoes), but they’re completely ignored and never enforced.

And if you’re hoping to play basketball, be prepared to be disappointed. The court is almost always reserved for volleyball leagues or indoor pickleball. I’ve come in multiple Sundays hoping to shoot around, only to find an adult league playing—despite not being listed on the posted court schedule. It makes it impossible to plan ahead or know when the court will actually be available.

My wife and I originally chose this gym because it’s within walking distance from our home. But when our six-month contract ends, we’ll be more than happy to make the 10-minute drive to the Longmont Rec Center instead. At this point, convenience isn’t enough to make up for how much this place falls short.

I love old school gyms and this one is perfect for me. Everyone there works out seriously and knows what they are doing, which is very motivating. The pool is open year rounds and it's perfect since we have so many beautiful days in CO throughout the year. The sauna in the locker room is great, I use it regularly! The staff is great, and welcoming. If you are looking for a place to seriously work out, this is it!

Great gym to work out at. I’ve been going here for 4 years and keep going back. The different rooms that they have can make it feel like you’re the only one there sometimes which is nice. Fair pricing and the 12 day pass is only $20 and is great if you’re a student or want to try it out. Great gym, would definitely recommend.

This gym has a lot to offer. It is older, and the machines and weights are older, but they still work. The steam room is out of order for men & women’s. They do have yoga classes for free with members which is really neat. I bought the 12 day pass to test this gym out. So far it’s great, just feels a little old and dirty on some machines and rooms. I do love the amount of things this gym offers, the only thing that would be cool to add, is a tanning bed or red light therapy. They require a six month membership which runs out $84, not bad at all. Also, my favorite machine is the stair stepper, and I did not find that in this gym );

We've been working with Kellyn for swim lessons for 2 summers now and my daughter has some so far! The one on one lesson is perfect for her to get the attention that she needs and is very reasonably priced. Pool is always clean and warm and I honestly wouldn't recommend anyone else!
