It's a clean & civilized shelter compared to most but it only provides shelter to the elite 1% of the homeless people - those who are able-bodied and employable. Most homeless are suffering from physical, mental, emotional and psychological impairment and photogenic repulsiveness and anyone with an IQ above 80 knows that they aren't going to be hired anywhere. Those people are kicked back out onto the street to die in hopeless despair whilst Harlingen soothes it's conscience with the false belief that Loaves and Fishes is providing all the help needed and anyone that persists in homelessness either wants to remain homeless or is just plain lazy. The whole system nowadays subscribes to Satan's self-sufficiency lie and disregards God's wisdom supplied in the Bible outlining the reality of emotional dependence and the solution that God provided for it (Gen 2:18). This place has Bible quotes and crosses and pictures of Jesus on the wall but they ignore God's word and follow along with the demon-inspired worldly foolishness lie of emotional self-sufficiency and self-love which models itself closely after the very first self-sufficiency lie that Satan told Eve.

This organization is very committed to recovery and resources for people in need. I was one. I arrived at their door homeless and in need of documents to secure work. The staff didn't give up on my assistance. I was able to get help for my diagnosis and the documents required for work. I now am employed and have housing of my own. Many thanks to everyone at Loaves and fishes.

Some people are rude and down right don't care If you're sick or not feeling well. They still expect you to go out and look for a job. They don't even care what kind of temperature is outside, you just have to go out and look for a job regardless.
I was there and I almost went to the hospital a few times but I had to keep it together.
You can't leave right after breakfast or lunch cuz you have to stay and clean up before you can leave. Like what? They're so rude and think they can tell us what to do like we're little kids. My time there was so unpleasant.

Public citizen inquiring in regards to building outside appearance specifically the flagpoles and why are they not being utilized. Attempted to bring this up with executive director Victor Rivera and his response to me was who are you I don't know you you're talking to me like we're friends I don't even know you! Then I said in response to his response mijito and he responded saying" I'm not your mijito", then he rudely asked me what do you want? So I told him why are there no flags on the flag post and he said because they're broken. So I told him then to fix them then he turned away and walked away from me and got into his vehicle. I told him being the leader that you are of Loaves and Fishes he's not setting a good example at the way he was talking to me the way he was speaking with me and responding to my inquiry of the Flags. We are in America the United States and that flag with the 50s stars and red and blue stripes should be flying and posted flying proudly on that flagpole outside of the building. His behavior was appalling and it sure doesn't represent the way Loaves and Fishes should be run. He needs to improve his public Behavior. I'm a complete stranger to him and this is the way he treats a fellow veteran. He should be ashamed of himself!

I went to do volunteer work and the lady in the front desk was so kind and a few of the other staff as well. But when it came to the kitchen section the man known as manny was a rude S.O.B. he thinks he can talk down to anyone like he's running a jail and he's the Sargeant. The kitchen had huge roaches crawling all over the floors and dead ones as well.
I will never volunteer to this place ever again. They say this is a Christian place, I say different. If this was a Christian place people homeless, volunteers, or people who our doing community service hours shouldn't be mistreated or looked down on, because of these people ( homeless, Volunteers, ect.) and others ( people who donate food, clothes, money) these people have a job. If I could get 2 people to go undercover as a homeless person and a volunteer they would see how people are being treated.
