This library has everything a library should have. Great selection, helpful staff, lots of open spaces, and occasional events.
The only downfalls are the loud employees and the parking garage. I've never been approached by the individuals who lurk there, but have seen them sleeping in the backs of city pick up trucks. Also, on the hot days.... the smell is awful.
The upper level is the "quiet level" but the main level has several employees who do not attempt to lower their voices. So, if you are going to the library to read, to study, to do homework then do not expect the employees to maintain a quiet environment. It is not a posted expectation.

Murfreesboro city has made this library difficult to use because of the homeless population. They would rather fund useless crap that we don't need instead of housing the homeless, literacy, road expansion, or literally anything else the people may actually benefit from. The one time I've ventured into this library I did not feel safe. There were a dozen or so homeless people sitting on the wall outside with their stuff spread out all down the length of it. A lot of the tables were taken up by sleeping patrons, and the other reviews reporting on the smell are very correct. An obviously homeless gentleman followed me around until I went to the desk and made extended small talk with the workers. I didn't tell them because I didn't want him to get kicked out for it, but I couldn't get out of there fast enough. There is only so much the librarians can do about any of it, I understand. The city has pretty much tied their hands, and no one wants to kick a person out into extreme weather just because they're unhoused. But it is very unfortunate that no one can use a public resource anymore because of the city not caring about the homeless. Their virtual card through Libby is the only way I can use this library anymore.

I've had a lovely experience with this library. The staff is kind and helpful and the library is a safe haven for all. Don't be selfish and leave reviews about who YOU think shouldn't be there, you're selfish. 🩷
Go buy books on Amazon if you don't like your PUBLIC services, being public services.
