I had two children who participated in their school program, Kids Excel. At first, I didn't believe my eldest child when he told me that they favored certain kids over others based not on performance or behavior but simply because of who they were. When my second child joined the program in the following year, they reported the same issues regarding favoritism.

To understand the situation better, I decided to observe the program without revealing my identity as a parent. I was shocked by how Courtney, the Executive/Artistic Director, treated the children. She seemed entitled to treat them without dignity and frequently complained, despite using them for funding. It was hard to believe how angry and upset she became over minor issues.

If you cannot manage your anger and often explode at nine-year-olds who are simply trying their best and are happy, then this is not the right position for you. Parents, please be aware of this program. It appears to be negatively impacting the development of our children.

I'm sure all the five-star reviews come from their inner circles or from parents whose children are their favorites.

Don't waste your time letting your child be apart of this program. They claim to be professional but by the experience my son and I have had they only care about their teacher favorites who get showcased and have no sense of how to organize children by height since shorter kids who aren't favorites are in the back.. My son has had fun participating but feels bad every Saturday because he doesn't understand why he is always in the back hidden behind kids who are taller than him. They claim to be a group who wants to build kids up but my son feels let down.

I am in the celebration team and though we do not start until September I cannot wait. Kids Excel is a fun way of teaching kids how to be excellent at anything. Kids Excel rocks!
