I wrote a grievance on Jose because he was basically accusing me of being unfaithful in my marriage and asking me personal questions about where my husband worked and how much money he made. After I made the grievance the supervisor Jeanette pulled me out of all groups and told me I'm no longer going to be in any groups and if I wanted to be in any groups she could send me somewhere else to get into groups. I think it's unfair because not all the groups I attended did Jose run. The staff are all about themselves here they don't care about helping you or your treatment because if they did they would have not pulled me out of all the groups they would have just pulled me out of Jose's.

I don't think any experience were you are required to seek out medical attention for your mental health is supposed to be pleasant. But the atmosphere I felt here wasn't terrible. It was as any hospital/medical environment. Cool, sterile, and quiet. I think that fed into my anxiety a bit while I was there.

Last year I was subject to a emotional breakdown that had me in complete shambles. I was talking a mile a minute to myself, jumpy, and sporadically sobbing. I was a wreck. My mother and grandfather could barely make much sense of it, so they took me here. I was initially interviewed and asked a series of standard questions. Occasionally my interviewer, a very nice woman, would break from form and ask if I needed time, water, anything really. When that was done I was sent to a counselor who reviewed the interview and asked me more questions regarding my breakdown. After a long interview and talk she refereed me to a clinic on Stockdale [which is another story altogether]. I didn't pursue treatment, thought I was diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder and Depression.

I didn't enjoy my visit, not because Kern County Mental Health was lacking in bedside manner or efficiency, but because the circumstances that took me there.

Ultimately, if you discount the tears and divulging of all my darkest personal secrets, it was a pleasant experience.

So far so good I've only been a client there for a short time, in that short time I've already seen my case manager, established a doctor in which I've seen and I have my meds in order so I'm much grateful!
