Loved it. I was the ceo of PNC solutions center and had the best time. I came from Lawrenceburg so we rode a charter bus there, 4-hour round trip was so worth it. My parents also got to come and help out. The staff are super nice and work well with us kids

This was such a cute place. I volunteered for my daughter's 2 day 5th grade field trip. So adorable inside. The training was offered online and in person but if I had done it online, I would have had to come in an hour and 15 minutes early on the day of the field trip as opposed to 15 minutes early.
When you arrive on field trip day, you sign in and they give you a card so that you can go out of the simulation area if you need to use the restroom (children's restrooms are inside - they are locked in the entire day) or use the kitchen area. There is a restaurant inside operated by students where the kids eat their lunch they brought and can buy snacks from the restaurant with fake money they withdraw from their bank account. There are cubbies they can store their coats and water bottles in. As far as masks go, staff and volunteers are required to wear on but students go by their school policy at the current time.
I helped out in the Creative Solutions store which is the only one that creates the items they sell. This ended up being a little stressful as we had a student absent the entire field trip - the designer who makes all the items. So that means I had to pick up the slack or these kids would not have sold enough to pay off their business loan.
Biztown is a simulation of real adult life. They each have a job, get paid and have places to spend their money for items they get to keep and take home. They also sprinkle a little stress in (business break ins, sicknesses, etc). If they are a CEO they will make speeches. The town mayor makes speeches as well and our school gave children the opportunity to run for the position in advance and then vote on who would be mayor. The systems run on real time so as they pay down their loans, it is reflected on their account ledgers and they can check their bank balances on the CFO's computers. Purchases are deducted from their bank account in real time.
My daughter loved it (she was CEO of Creative Solutions). Her business was not as successful as some of the others that were selling slime, stress balls and stuffed animals as you can imagine. I think we sold one hand made checkbook cover. Lol Speaking of checkbooks, they had to fill out check registers throughout the simulation and deposit 2 paychecks, the other 2 were direct deposit.
Overall it was a neat experience for them and they learned a lot in a short amount of time. The Biztown staff was very quick to help when you needed it and it ran fairly smoothly.
A lot of the businesses in the town were sponsored by actual businesses which is actually pretty smart. The bank inside is sponsored by and looks like a mini First Horizon and my daughter noticed a branch when we were driving by afterward. Maybe she'll bank there as an adult because she remembered it from her 5th grade field trip. Who knows?
