The first time I had ever heard of Improv, I was a freshman at UC Davis. The two theatre electives I took were book-driven, included little opportunity to practice the improv techniques we learned, but altogether interesting. After Davis, I took a couple classes via Sierra College; however—bleh, same experience. Last June, I thought I’d try again.

I sought out classes that were more practice-based rather than book-driven. In other words, more fun! When I first attended one of Improv Impact’s Tuesday night Improv Playground sessions, it was nothing like I expected, and everything I hoped it would be.

Paul, founder of Improv Impact, is himself an accomplished improv performer, and is also an outstanding teacher to learn from. He has so much experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm…I’m dumbfounded at, “why I didn't think to seek out improv classes, like this, sooner!?”

The whole Improv Impact experience and the culture of creative personalities Paul has accumulated with his improv community...is a gift! The people you’ll improvise with at Improv Impact sessions are some of the nicest and friendliest people you could hope to meet. Just like Paul! And the atmosphere of fellow improvising cast members is incredibly supportive, constructive, and lighthearted. Again, like Paul!

The classes are evenly mixed with beginners and veterans alike, which tells you plenty—there are new persons every session, and the majority of those persons quickly become regulars. Every person in Paul's classes gets into improv for their own reasons, which range for every reason you can think of, from acting to socializing. But whatever your reasons are when you start, you’ll quickly discover a whole chorus of new reasons that keep bringing you back! You’re going to quickly make some good friends in Paul’s classes.

In short, you have to experience it to fully appreciate the brilliance of Paul's Improv classes—and your life will be made better for it! —Did I mention you’ll laugh a lot?! —You will. So a word of advice. Don’t eat right before a class! You’ll get a side ache. 😉

We look forward to meeting you at one of Paul’s improv classes. Cheers.

I've had the pleasure of attending a handful of improv classes at the Improv Impact. Every single session has been fun to engage with new people. Everyone who attends is supportive which helps to maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Paul is a great instructor who brings humorous energy to the class and offers effective feedback. I've had so much fun here, I don't think I'm going to stop attending any time soon. I recommend this class to people even with no experience in improv, comedy or acting who just want to get out and have an fun time. Try it and see for yourself!

Have to put in four stars so it won't look too good for Google. I'm there for you Paul! I definitely would say I would rate the Improv Impact as 5 stars. Paul does a great job at getting participants to try new things. Do not fear failure. Sometimes the fail can be an epic win. The 2 hour sessions are a good post work / end of day unwind.

I dropped in for a class having never done anything of this sort. Paul is a great host and appears to have something special going. This is evident by the close knit group and great people. It definitely is not in my wheelhouse and I am very glad I went to the class. Give it a shot. You will be glad you did it.
