It's the real deal. I had stopped going to church more than 20 years ago because I couldn't connect, it was boring, I just didn't see the point. I visited Hill Country Bible Church as a "favor" to a customer. The favor turned out to be for me. If you want to learn what the Bible really means, come to Hill Country Bible Church at Canyon Lake. You'll hear real messages with fundamental breakdown and explanation of scripture and how it applies to you. The lessons are so clear that even a dummy like me can understand. You'll find a group of really good, down to earth people just like you there who pray for and care for each other and for you. Dale Watts, and the Hill Country Bible Church, will lift your spirits and teach you something new every time you enter. Never boring, very engaging and often has totally "edge of the seat" messages.

One of the most refreshing, friendly, basic worship Churches ever went to! Very Country...be it Hill Country...style.
Small but growing with Facebook services too. Meals before Sunday school and on Wednesday night...bring potluck if you can/wish.

I think all churches have purpose, rather it be good or bad. This church has alot to work on imo. You will hear anger, politics, and an older generation perspective mostly discussed within its members.

Having actually studied the Bible, asked questions, and researched the origins of the Bible's language, i use the Modern Literal version for trust in accuracy in my studies. I encourage those looking for a church also consider being more focused on personal bible study before engaging in church ran studies. With that said, here are my pros, cons, and suggestions of this church:

Pros:
-Open conversation of current events
-opens the building to other events like HOA meetings and food drives.
-simple design of church with nothing fancy (one of the rarer things in a church, thus my biggest praise for this church for being humble!)
-a decent amount of members have history in doing work that helps others

Cons:
- much of the conversations are opinions being forced on you without any research or credit to them (mostly about america and statistics, its like listening to Fox News)
-no real focus or group plan to help others, except what to put on the billboard for next weeks message.
-pan handlers to collect your donations, imo i prefer there be a donation box or possibly a detailed reason explained for the need of donations, get people excited about donating towards a cause!
-uneducated explanations of other religions without a complete education in the subject matter. Example: a few islamic "quotes" from the Koran out of context used to further an agenda of hate. Atheist do this on Christianity, we can be better and not play this children's game.
-a few minor problems if your applying Paul's explanations of a church (like woman being veiled and quite, leader qualifications, etc)

Suggestions:
-have focus, goals, and more human engaging volunteering. As it stands, this church isnt transparent and doesnt differ from any other standard church.
-build community: keep the doors open and try to have more education and helpful events. Teach useful skills like money budgeting, diy, and preserving food.
- spread out leadership responsibilities: Moses used this fairly well, basically having a set tree of people to help others with issues from minor to severe.
- encourage people to learn the bible and to ask questions. those seeking to become followers of Christ want to know Christ's love on sundays, not the random possible perspectives of saul before he became paul.
-know where mission trips are desperately needed ( like china) and how to train missionaries. Missionary is, by definition, going to a place, setting up a church of believers, building up that church to stand on its own until it can also send out missionaries. Alot of churches donate to a fund, or send them to safe places like england, kenya, and even new york.
- and many minor suggestions are available, but i encourage a response from the leader of this church.

I want to help this church be its very best. I was given the skills to turn a church into what is biblically sound and will turn many people to God, but unless the church reaches out for help, i can't help them.

Great old time preaching an old style music. They actually sing out of hymnals, so don't miss this church - it's a lot of fun with a great message from the pastor.
