Their dedication to protecting the plateau’s landscapes, rivers, clean air, and public lands from being mined for coal, oil shale, tar sands, and uranium is essential. If this land is developed for mining, it would not only exacerbate climate change - it would wreak havoc on one of the most important American landmarks.
