My husband & I visited several homes in one day. This was the first one we visited. None of the other homes compared to this home. After viewing each one, we would look at each other and say, "The first one we saw is still the one!" It was bright, sunny, cheerful, and the owner, Sophia was so very kind. She is a nurse which I greatly appreciated that fact. Our Mom fell 3 weeks prior & cracked a rib. Knowing she was a nurse, I knew she would be in great hands. Another great plus was that they are devout Catholics and are members of the same church as our Mom. We really felt this was a perfect fit for our mom. We took mom to visit the place and meet Sophia.
She served us all our Mom's favorite Mac 'n Cheese. Her hubby is the chef! It was delicious! His specialty is ribs & brisket! The ribs were absolutely fantastic. As she is the first person in this brand new facility, she had the pick of which room she wanted. We met her husband and I was so touched that he wanted to pray with us.
He thanked God for growing his family this afternoon. He thanked God for the honor of His allowing them to care for our loved one. And he asked God to help heal her and give her strength.
This truly touched my heart! She has been there for a week now. I called a few hours after she was moved in. She had eaten dinner which she said was delicious. She'd seen the first 49er game of the season! And she got to meet Sophia's family. I could literally hear the smile in our Mom's voice! Just being around people was a great start for her! She is eating 3 healthy meals a day and drinking more water than she was when she was living alone. She says all the meals are delicious, but too much food for one sitting for her! We see her strength returning. She is monitored with her oxygen and wearing it almost 24/7 which we think is helping immensely overall. She is taking her meds regularly. She has even taken a couple of walks around the backyard! We have met some of the caregivers. They truly care about what they are doing for her. If you are looking for a care home for your loved one/s, I would definitely recommend Golden State Care Homes.
