I went to a basketball game and sadly did not have a good experience. The refs were very very unprofessional, were yelling at parents telling them not appropriate things...one of the refs also went as far and told a child something that they definitely shouldn't have!!! And you can definitely tell there was some favoritism... It's sad that in 2025 we have to go through things like this, you would think that people would be more professional especially with young CHILDREN!! Overall very disappointed with my experience but hopefully it will be better next time. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Most of the problems are with event organizers and I'm unsure if I can blame the actual location for that but I can blame the actual location for having: no unisex restroom(s), Inadequate parking for it's size, and a pretty confusing layout.
Still won't give it 1 star though because most of these could be fixed, hypothetically.

We had high expectations for this competitive league. We had heard from other parents that it was supposed to be a great place for your child to develop skills in basketball. The experience was disappointing from the start. The website had the wrong date for the try-outs in our area. It took several emails and finally showing up to a try-out just to get the name of the person I was supposed to email. When I reached that coach, I let them know that I had not been able to identify when or where the try-outs would be for our area. The response from the coach was somewhat condescending. When I provided all the information I had gathered from Gold Crown's site, the coach conceded that they had posted the wrong information on their site.

My child made one of their gold teams. You'd think that after paying over $500 for our child to participate, that there would at least be some kind of communication about what was happening. The coach must have thought that he was Phil Jackson and had no time for anyone. He rarely spoke to the parents. He was unprofessional. He did not show up for a few games. He did not show up to practices. And the best part was that he never communicated anything. Even after requesting to be added to whatever mailing or text list they use, communication was nonexistent. I received one email a month showing the schedule for practices. When practices were cancelled there was never any notification.

What's worse is that the kids on the team looked just as bad towards the end of the season as they did at the beginning. The team never learned how to play as a team. The individual players didn't seem to progress their skills. I wouldn't care about the coach's lack of communication skills if I at least saw some progress in skills. Unfortunately, there was none.

If you're looking for a place to help your child improve their skills in basketball, I suggest looking elsewhere. Save your money. Save all the time and gas that you're going to waste driving to games that are at least 40 minutes away. This is not the place to help your child grow as a basketball player.

I am a very concerned parent about a comment a ref. made during a game to my son. As I sit in an urgent care waiting room to have my son evaluated for a concussion I am very upset. 1/ 3 referees made a foul call on our son at the end of the quarter. Just before he gave him the ball to shoot his 2 FTs he stated (according to our son) “if you keep flopping I’m going to call it on you”. I felt it was interesting he made the comment at a time when no one else was on the court bc it was at the end of the quarter and players were off court. Later in the game our son was fouled hard and his head bounced on the court. He was immediately removed from the game for the remainder. Head injuries are serious and to make a comment like that is unprofessional. This referee should be reprimanded of the repercussions of his ignorance. Just call the game ! Don’t encourage injury!
