Historic building with great ACOUSTICS to hear a live band and a large wooden floor thats fun to dance on. Large lobby allows guests to talk and be heard away from the stage. Cozy but not formal.

A large parking lot and a catering kitchen downstairs. Entrance is stairless and easier for those with mobility challenges.

Tonight we heard a concert w Blue Highway band, organized by The Front Porch music school. We have been here for dances, wedding receptions, USO shows, and benefit concerts too.

Outside in the back is an olympic size pool for swim teams and lap swimmers and two smaller shallow pools for children, picnic area, tennis court, volleyball and snack bar.

Good old fashioned family fun! We have been members for 15 years and cannot imagine spending our summers anywhere else. The beautiful shade provided by the mature trees, the many areas to rest and relax and catch up with friends, and the opportunities to pick a game of pickleball or volleyball, truly make this place a gem of Charlottesville. Join FSBC if you want your kids to enjoy the slower pace of summer, making best friends, and reconnecting with nature!

Was told “this camp is not the right fit for your girls” by the camp director because of their food allergies. So much for inclusion. Nobody is trained in administering epi, which is frightening. I was also not notified when my 4 year old was stung in the foot by a bee at camp with a good amount of swelling. I told the director it felt discriminatory to be told that and I was suddenly accused of yelling at the camp director (not true, but I was assertive because these are serious safety issues) My girls are brown, and it does seem like this place strives for racial diversity.. but there are other forms of discrimination.

FSBC is a little slice of heaven and is one of my very, very favorite parts of Charlottesville. The inclusivity is obvious as soon as you walk on the premises. The friendly spirit of a diverse group of people is evident and celebrated through many avenues such as swim team, social gatherings, membership scholarships and day to day pool life. If kids tire of swimming, there are so many other things to do on the grounds.

The FSBC summer camp welcomes campers of all backgrounds and 30% of attendees are provided scholarships. FSBC works closely with International Neighbors as well as nearby Title 1 schools to serve those who might otherwise not be able to attend summer camps. The director and counselors are comprised of a diverse, fun, kind group of individuals and are an incredible asset to the camp. It is not elaborate or fancy, but it is a place where children enjoy “old school” fun such as a gaga pit, swimming, volleyball, ping pong, pickleball, and more.

Our family love this pool! For me, the shade from the old growth hardwood trees allowing all day hang out without getting burned up is the bomb. Add a cafe serving cold beer, and this father of three found his summer hang out! Great way to meet locals. The swim team has been fantastic for the kids. Can't wait for next season!
