Really great shelter with good people who care about the cats whether they’re short term or long term stays. Worth the drive east from civilization as the operation is all about the cats rather than the facilities. They take on cats with health problems so they have multiple buildings with multiple levels of care. The adoptable cats are separated by age group. We found two lovely boys who had been there a while. Costs are really reasonable and they make sure you go home prepared and with peace of mind. Can’t recommend enough and we donated too!

A wonderful sanctuary for cats, young and old. I've adopted two cats from Friends of Cats and find comfort in knowing all cats at this no-kill shelter are taken care of while they await adoption. This shelter also offers lifetime care for owners that need to relinquish their pet due to illness and other circumstances.

Although the cats at Friends of Cats appear to be physically well-cared for, there seems to be a disproportionate number of cats compared to adoptions. It's concerning that the focus might be more on maintaining control of the facility rather than conducting successful adoptions. Potential adopters might have better luck finding their furry companion at the county humane society, which seems to prioritize rehoming.

While I have expressed my concerns, I encourage potential patrons to read other reviews to form a more complete picture of their experiences.

We have loved our experiences here! Ended up getting an older cat, wasn't a fit for our home so we relinquished him back - then got to adopt 2 kitten siblings! They have been at our home for a little over 6 months and we are happy. They set you up for success with a voucher for veterinary check up and send them off with freshly clipped nails and even a carrier if needed. Highly recommend.

To the one who gave a One Star: Kudos to this facility not allowing you to adopt because you were going to allow it outdoors. They are correct when they are concerned about Coyotes! I’ll add cars & other hungry animals.
And to the other: I adopted a cat in Oceanside, she had the same cough. Remember, they are rescues. Vet checks are a necessity. I’m glad they helped fund the Vet.
