This trail can be difficult depending on weather and hiking capabilities. The trail begins at the parking lot and begins rather mellow. After a short while, one will find themselves climbing the equivalent of a steep staircase (rocks make good steps). Gradually, the trail becomes fairly steep and arduous. Once at the top, one can follow the gentle ridge to the next peak over.. highly recommend for the view.

Gorgeous view of river valley. Well worth short drive in all terrain vehicle to see summit lake and wild flowers.

The trail is a little difficult if there has been any rain recently. It is pretty steep, but the views are worth the climb.

Gorgeous; the entire Hatcher Pass is so peaceful. The trail itself is so steep (Alaska seems to offer a new level of steep) and do not wear sneakers with worn-down tread like I did or you shall controlled-slide the way down like I also did. There is also something about Alaska in which the mountain peak seems closer than it is; the depth perception is consistently off. The scale of everything is hard to grasp, which is part of what makes it so wonderful. Hike to the top and along the ridge if you can.
