There are so many Finns who settled in the Fairport area that they have their own museum, which was closed today when I stopped by. I did have the opportunity to enjoy the adjacent park that seems to be the end of a biking trail so they have bike racks set up.

The park is lovely, there are tables and benches and even a couple of open power outlets if you're looking to recharge your electric bike. I spent a half hour here making and eating my lunch, enjoying the peace.

Next time, hopefully the museum is open.

Really fun little museum. I've got a lot of Finnish ancestors and learning about the immigration history and culture being alive still outside Cleveland was awesome. I grew in the Marquette Michigan area where we have a lot of Finnish history and being in Ohio now a lot I had no idea Fairport Harbor shared a lot of the same story. Everyone very friendly and well done.

Fantastic Finns to meet and converse with, the Volunteer staff have a living memory and are knowledgeable with detailed information about items on display as well as regional connections both local and afar.
There is such a wealth of generational history found within the museum archives, with the staff keeping a Voluntary historical Family Record to help people trace their history and better connect to their cultural roots.
It is wonderful for our elders to keep connected and for new generations to continue building upon their inherent backgrounds.
Kiitos paljon!

Visited as a U.P. Finn and traded stories about all the things our families had in common with Ohio Finns.
Fantastic collection, and beautiful layout!
Suzanne was a wonderful tour guide and knew every item by second nature.

l was here inquiring about weaving lessons from a very competent instructet. The museum has a loom that we will be using. The building was busy with several regular locals who enjoy the company and the excellant coffee. lt is a happy place full of local history with a very nice gift shop. The museum displays are very well done.

Our experience was great but I want to apologize on my behalf when Ann asked questions regarding our family ,Ann through her hard work , had a time of it with my brother Gary and my self in our off the wall responses but she was able to get the right response from us , now I’m afraid they know more than myself regarding our roots which started in Finland, thank you Ann for you patience , just lock the doors when you see us coming , thanks again Marvin E, Latva

Got a private tour and learned a lot about not only Finnish settlers in Ohio, but about coffee (who knew Finnish people were such coffee lovers?) and Finnish history.
