I would highly recommend Festival on 8th for your celebration needs in the Virginia Beach area. This venue was absolute perfection. My family and I were very pleased with the outcome of my niece's baby shower. We created some beautiful memories in the space that will last us a life time.

I had hoped to leave a raving review but unfortunately my daughter wedding fell apart and festival on 8th was of no help. My daughter wanted to get married ON the beach. I was given info for all vendors associated with this and paid my deposit to festival. Upon securing the venue we learned from the city of Va beach that a reggae concert was taking place that weekend which not only affected the wedding but the hotel rooms booked. We hit every roadblock possible and the only way to fulfill the weeding on the beach was to get married several blocks from the venue BUT also chairs had to be dropped at waterman’s so we had to carry chairs 10+ blocks for setup and take down. And with a 2 hours timeframe from start to finish. No one informed us of this in advance of taking our money. The venue, the hotel, etc.
My daughter decided to settle on an indoor wedding but as time grew closer she didn’t love the idea. Ultimately she canceled the wedding. I sucked up fact that I lost a ton of money and have been waiting for my refund since 5/4, it is now 6/5. After 10 days and no refund I began calling to see if we could put the money toward the shack instead since we’d already be there for the week. We could celebrate after her elopement. To date, not a single returned call. I called today to see if I could escalate my complaint and was told by a waterman’s employee that this option doesn’t exist. It seems they plan to keep not just my non refundable money, but all of it and are dodging my calls. My deposit check had no issues reaching them in record time. But somehow my refund is lost in thin air. Had we known a a concert was going to take place spanning 10 blocks I’d have never paid the deposit in the first place.
Reggae concerts and wedding just don’t mix and cost me thousands of dollars. We eat at these establishments every night while vacationing. I really expected more and feel terrible I even recommended this place to my daughter who will now elope and never have her wedding.

Had my wedding here March 30, 2019 and it was awesome! Lovvvve the way they redid the inside. Don't judge it by the looks of the outside because it just doesn't give it the justice it deserves. From industrial looking open vented ceilings, to the brick walls with great accent lighting, to the cement colored, raw flooring, everything looks great and goes so well together. Food was amazing, catered by Waterman's (which is Festival on 8th sister company). The coordinators, Catalina and Jen, were easy to contact and always helpful and accommodating.

We had a great experience working with the events team for our company events held this past weekend. We had dinner on Friday at The Attic at Waterman's and Saturday afternoon, we enjoyed drinks + a taco bar at The Shack. Everything was perfect - the staff, the food, the overall experience. Would highly recommend!

I had my wedding here and it went perfectly! The staff here are so nice and work with you to make sure everything is just how you want it. The venue itself is so adorable and cute and was perfect. The food was amazing!!! I got so many compliments on the venue and the food. It's nice too because they have food, servers, dishes, flatware, etc all in one place so you don't need to worry about renting a million different things or having a ton of vendors. I really just can't say enough good things. Everything was just perfect.

I held my retirement ceremony in the large room at The Shack and it was the perfect venue! Food was fantastic. Bartenders and staff were great. We worked with Catalina, and she was easy to work with and had several really good recommendations. Highly recommended!!!!

Got married here. Great place to hold both ceremony and reception. Staff was friendly and the food was great. Bartenders must have bricks tied to their hands though. Strongest drinks in town but they tasted great. Mike Standing, the owner happened to be at the shack that evening as well. He was very kind and made sure that we enjoyed our big day. Highly recommended!

We celebrated my husband's 30 military retirement party at
The Shack's Festival on the 8th on August 1, 2025 It was prefect! We originally were going to have it outside at the back Shack, but decided to move it inside at the last minute because of the heat (no additional funds needed).
Isabell our planner was great, she provided everything we needed for the perfect party! The staff and bartenders were very polite and attentive to our guests. Our friends and family raved, with so many compliments about how awesome the food and venue were. Thank you so much Isabell, for making Dano's retirement party a memorable event for years to come! PS... We got him on the mechanical bull what a way to celebrate such an epic event. Thank you again!
