I hate having to leave a negative review, but I feel it's necessary based on my experience scheduling an appointment for my father, who works overnight and has a unique schedule. For nearly four weeks, I attempted to set up this appointment, but ultimately had to give up. Each time I received a call back, it was from a blocked number, which I don't answer. When Marisol eventually reached out from her regular number, I unfortunately missed her call by just a minute or two and when I tried to return the call, it went directly to voicemail and this went on for weeks.

It seems that my family and I are not being prioritized, especially after I left three voicemails and sent an email suggesting the implementation of an online scheduling system or a texting platform for communication. It shouldn't be this difficult to arrange an appointment for a service that we are willing to pay for. While I understand that they offer low-cost services, it’s still an expense for us. I also reached out to Susan on April 28th and never received a response, and I left two voicemails for the Director, who also did not get back to me.

Paloma is the best !! Most definitely a genuine kind hearted person .. we clicked 1st day and that's rare for me. I look forward to our sessions weekly she's an amazing support person when it comes down to listening and talking things out .. if you do obtain services from here mention her name ,, 😉.

Family League Services in Bloomfield, NJ, is an excellent facility with exceptionally kind, caring, and knowledgeable staff. I would highly recommend them.

Offers very poor therapy services for complicated cases.  If you are being emotionally abused in a relationship, or if you have a communicative disability, this place will ignore your plight.  I had various counselors from FSL for several years, on a weekly basis, and this was the result.  If that wasn't bad enough, they do not read each others notes, will abruptly leave & you'll wait months to be assigned a new therapist, and the whole struggle to "get them to understand" will continue endlessly.  Until you realize this yourself and find a better place.  Or until you try out another alternative (out of desperation), and FSL then will refuse to continue helping you if you won't stop seeing your new therapist (even if you want to give FSL a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th chance to provide effective treatment).  Perhaps if you have a simple, straightforward problem they can help you (but please be careful with this place; I wish you luck).

Family Service League...is Amazing! Starting with Linda who is so welcoming and so kind....I needed that so many days when I was dealing with difficult life situations. Stephanie Koehler .....I can't say enough about this therapist...."Professional, kind, caring, invested....and Renata....I also was able to have Couples Counseling with My therapist and the Director and lead Therapist.....All I can say is they help you heal...it is a place that can help you past all kinds of life difficulties. I love this place!

I came across FSL because I was court ordered Family Reunification Therapy for myself with my kids.. Let me just start by saying that the receptionist Linda is one of a kind. She called me back right away once she received my voice-mail, and was very knowledgeable and extremely pleasant and helpful. Set the tone for what was too come next. Today I met with Paula and got to meet Linda in person. My 1st session with Paula was excellent and can't wait for my family to meet her and get this process started. Looking forward to more sessions with Paula. Thanks FSL for being so welcoming and considerate of my situation.

This is a nonprofit that offers therapeutic counseling based on your ability to pay. The staff is very compassionate and provides top quality services. They have been serving clients in Essex County for over 130 years. They provide individual, family, couple and group therapy. You can trust them to give you the best care possible.

If you don't have any insurance, or the psychologists in your network are still not affordable, this is a great alternative.
They have a sliding scale fees that cater to your income.
A diverse staff accommodates an individual's preferences based on sex, language, religion, etc.
Don't suffer in silence when there's help available.
