Learning through the news that neighbors surrounding this church organization feel it would be detrimental to their community to have actual homes set up for families experiencing homelessness is heart breaking. Going from church to church is not conducive to the overall mental and physical health of these families but it is currently the best that can be done. The crazy thing is that drugs and alcohol are not allowed and drug testing is done before assistance can be given, weeding out the ones that our not yet ready to be successful in a home of their own. Plus no one is asking anyone in this area to pay for any of these homes and or help in anyway. It cost far more later on down the line for foster care, prisons and public services that the public actually will pay for if the family gets seperated when it was just guidance and a roof that was needed. Empathy people:)
