Can never get a hold of them. Being a carpenter and having 2 children in the last 7 years I have had to deal with them several times for various reason. Never been able to get through to a person except once after calling for months daily. The line is always overwhelmed with call doesn't matter when you call. Another borderline useless government organization we are forced to pay into every paycheck. The last few years i haven't even bothered trying to get money if work gets slow because I never get through to anybody. This time I'm trying to get my paid family leave bonding, filled out the forms a month ago no word and no payment.

We’re trying to certify weeks for my husband. They approved the payments, but he needs to certify weeks. He has tried logging on to EDD online, but it tells him the information does not match their records. We’ve tried calling several times, and it always says no one is available to answer (just like disability and PFL). The letter he received says he can supposedly certify the weeks via phone 24/7 using tele-cert. When we call, it never actually gives you the option to tele-cert. After asking several questions, it just says it will transfer you to a representative who is never available. Don’t advertise something you don’t have and have people go through a long process to just be disappointed.

Omg! It is terrible. It has been 5 weeks since I applied for my paid family leave and no update at all. They dont answer a phone call at all. I dont even know why they have the phone number up there. My mortgage and bills need to be paid.

They started paying on time. But at the end of the year they asked for identification information without any specific reason why I am not identified. The online system didn't work and I had to call multiple times till they fixed their end to allow online uploading for me. Though I did this within 15 days I got a mail for determination for ineligibility that I did not verify my identity. What a pain this system has become for one month of unemployment benefit.

It's been 5 weeks since applying for bonding time and still no update. I've called over 100x waited two hours just for someone to tell me "it's coming" when is it coming? He didn't know. Okay well I have bills to pay and this is the last thing any new mom wants to deal with. I've been trying to call them again to get another update and the phone just hangs up. Doesn't matter if you call afternoon later in the week they still hang up on you.

Got laid off. Approved for unemployment. Decided to go finish my degree and was told “it’s not an eligible education opportunity” and had my unemployment revoked. So much for the “employment development dept”, I guess they don’t want me to get a chemistry degree, I would be so much more valuable to the world as a customer service agent or waiter.

WHAT A JOKE OF A DEPARMENT! Can't believe that OUR hard earned money is being STOLEN from this organization! We contribute and we don't get any calls answered, no professional help available in person, and above all we DON'T GET a portion of all the money we each contribute to this EMPLOYEES' MONEY THEFT DEPARTMENT when we really need it. THIS DEPARTMENT NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN FOR EVER!
