We’ve adopted 2 wonderful dogs from EDGSR. Cindy and her staff took the time to vet us as good, responsible prospective owners. This process included the application and a home visit to check fencing, etc. We appreciated this process and completely understand the necessity of these steps. Cindy and her staff love these dogs and it shows. They helped choose the right dog for us each time we came to adopt.
We highly recommend El Dorado German Shepard Rescue.

We had a wonderful experience with Cindy and her staff. She was very pleasant to work with and answered all of our questions.

Anyone who has the pleasure of a GSD being part of their family knows they require A LOT of time and training (for their lifetime). Cindy and her staff really put the time and effort into each dog.

The process is a bit tedious but I appreciate they do their best to ensure the dog and the potential adopter(s) are a good fit.

When we are ready to add another GSD to our family, this will be our first place to go.

I highly recommend El Dorado County German Shepherd Rescue if you are serious about welcoming a GSD into your family!!!

Awesome German Shepherds! I adopted my precious Misty Rain from them and it was Love at first sight for my Family and my other dog Thor. She quickly became one of my all time favorite dogs. Misty Rain came spayed, had all her shots and vaccinations, was micro chipped, and was tested heart worm negative. I can't say enough great things about the owners Jim and Cindy. Cindy is an experienced trainer working with German Shepherds for more than 20 years and can support you with any challenges you may have integrating your new dog into your family. If you want a quality German Shepherd this is the place to adopt!!!
P.S. Who the heck is Beth in the reviews There is no Beth at El Dorado County German Shepherd Rescue.

The dog we were interested in was advertised as being kid cat and dog friendly. After spending ages filling out their application and my friend and family member being grilled to the point of discomfort they advised we would not be considered for the dog because she was not in fact cat friendly. Perhaps more care during the advertising process and try to be more respectful when checking references. Asking my friends what type of dog she thinks we needed to have is a bit much and not up to her.

The application process seems to be designed to deter people who are not truly interested in adopting. After months of waiting and finally having to repeatedly contact the group, we were given an opportunity to adopt. Sandy is RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE! Two of my children had unexpected allergic reactions while I was out of town and Sandy was able to find him a new home immediately. She was rude and made nasty comments towards my children. If you want to deal with professionals then I recommend that you go somewhere else very far away from this group.

Best GSD rescue I've ever been to. Clean kennels and staff that know what they're doing. Very kind and helpful peiple. Well controlled GS dogs. Would recommend visiting them before buying a GSD or puppy. Save one that needs a family!

Everyone should IGNORE the negative reviews. These people pour their hearts into loving, rehabilitating, and caring for abandoned GSD who were previously owned by people unable or unfit to care for these amazing creatures. The foster parents are AMAZING, especially Jennifer! Some of them fostering multiple GSD at the same time, taking them on family trips, training them, loving them, buying brand new SUV's and having their first occupant be their foster pups......and just trying to make sure the animals DO find their "furever" home.

We adopted our amazing Molly, formerly "Holly" from foster parent Jennifer. She is the absolute best! Her and her husband are so committed to these amazing animals.

Seriously upset about a $350 adoption fee These dogs have probably been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, loved, fed, trained, housed, and saved from euthanasia. If that fee doesn't work don't blame them, its less than what they spend on these dogs.

So many GSD end up in these rescues with "behavioral issues" as they were adopted by people who don't understand what raising a GSD looks like and if you don't exercise, train, love, and socialize these pups it takes time to mend.... Humor their questions, they are out of love. They want these dogs to land in a permanent home prepared for the breed.

A final shout out to Jennifer. One amazing foster mom!!

The woman who runs this organization is amazing, she has a huge heart. She rescues dogs who are difficult to manage. She treats the dogs with respect and love and does her best to train them to be easier to manage animals. In short, she tries to undo the mess other people bestow upon their dogs.
