My 90 year old grandmother has been living here for about five years and we have been very pleased. The staff are very caring and they offer a lot of fun activities to keep the residents engaged and facilitate a community. The apartments are nice and good sized. The only downsides are the food which can be a bit redundant and sometimes not so good and the heat and water seem to be troublesome at times. But nothing putting anyone at risk. I would recommend this place to others.

When I had to move my then 90-year old mom from California to Colorado so that she'd be closer to me, I was worried: she LOVED the senior residence she was in there. And it was small, family-like, gracious, near the ocean--could a larger place like Eaton ever 'compete'?

Yes, and it won. My mom, now 92, is very happy there, and we are both extremely impressed with both parts of the community--yes, both: she started out in Independent Living, and after about 8 months and a few health events, needed to move to Assisted Living. I had thought this might come about, and had selected Eaton partly because it has both types, and gives preference to residents if there's a waitlist. There was--but in the time it took my mom to go through the hospitalization and rehab, they had found her a lovely place in Assisted Living, and I had moved her furniture and most treasured possessions from the original 1-bedroom apartment to this buffet apartment. When she came home from the hospital, she saw the new place for the first time--and almost cried, saying, "I never dreamed it would be like this--it feels like HOME!"

Old friends from Independent Living were not lost, as both communities share the same church services, and many of the activities, from guest music programs and speakers to shopping trips. So it wasn't "yet another brutal uprooting" to move to Assisted Living, and she made the adjustment easily and happily.

In AL, the helpers are skilled and knowledgeable, and best of all: respectful and loving. They know the people they take care of there are not 'patients' but 'residents'; they may advise safe and healthy actions,but they don't impose them, knowing these seniors are people who've spent a lifetime learning their own needs and capacities, and making choices,and living with consequences. Eaton is helpful to people experiencing some of the aspects of memory reduction, hearing loss, mobility impairment, and such, but is not tooled up for Alzheimers or severe memory care, so residents are considered independent in making choices, while needing support in other ways, such as medication management, escorting to meals and events if needed, and so forth. All this is provided by cheerful, competent helpers who often hug my mom, and call her by endearments--it feels like family!

Over he approximately one year my mom has been in AL, I have been very pleased that they have always kept me completely and immediately in the loop--hence I can relax, knowing if there were some need my mom had (and hesitated to tell me about just because that's her personality), someone at Eaton would tell me. When I was the sole person responsible for helping my aging mom, it was exhausting for me and stressful for both of us, dealing with role reversals, developing needs, and so forth. Now, knowing all the other care she needs is already taken care of, I can (and do) visit often, always feeling like a welcome member of the community/family, and when I'm there, we can once again be mother and daughter, which we love!

Denver is lucky to have such an amazing place. The staff really cares about their residents, and the residents care about the staff. I personally know residents and staff members and every single one is compassionate, hardworking and dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors in the community.
