Their not very nice people, and very disrespectful to us Senior Citizens, Or some I have dealt with are, not but one or 2 were..and say their here to make your life here Peaceful,is a Lie,I have been talked to worse than a dog by our Manager i recorded her and called to talk to her boss I think her name was Anne,talked to me in the same manner, when i wonted to report how were talked to by the Manager and please listen to my recording of her,She yelled at me like im a child and did not care about my concern,It could be a great Place to live,If we could fix our place up to look pretty and enjoy nature like Bird feeders or Hummingbird feeders, we once could have them but no longer, and I cleaned and maintained mine,,Others did too I know for a fact,And no negotiating just told if you don't like the rules and the rules are ridiculous, 4 inspections in a year and tell us how to clean and maintain our porches and homes like we are children and dont know how, when she can plainly see how clean we are I will be here going on 2 years this July, To be told if some of us not all of us say anything about the complaint,when were told to go to Management and she is only here twice a week,were told bluntly if you dont like them then your welcome to MOVE,Bluntly No i'll see or work with you, Rules are Rules,and you have to live by them,I've lived in Hud Housing before and it is not like here,Inspections were twice a year and can have Bird feeders of any kind just keep areas clean as they mow here every week so the birds dropping their seeds reseed the grass is a stupid explanation as they do mow every week,and other Hud Apts do allow you to have them and flowers and things hanging on porch if pretty and maintained,that being said,Again No and no Negotiating,,would rather lose good tenants than to help you feel happy and at home,also we do pay our rent to live here therefore it is called Our Homes,then we should be able to feel like it is,,They are not the best People that they present themselves to be on Reviews!! Thanks for listening!!but I have to stay dont won't to move again,I am 66 years old and it is convenient to a lot of locations I deal with!!

I met with Mrs. Pierson today to talk about going back to school and filling out fafsa and scholarship paperwork. She was very polite and was so helpful! She answered all my questions and was very thorough. I appreciate the time she spent helping me and how friendly she was. I would recommend seeing her if you need help with filing school paperwork.

Update: They actually contacted me directly and clarified that funds were not available anywhere until just recently . Apparently the local agencies administering the programs do not update their websites whhen they should which leads to confusion and misconceptions about exactly what is available . I appreciate that someone from higher up took the time to contact me AND provide a lengthy explanation that more than picked up where the locals left us hanging with questions. (Previous review: I'm confused why the federal LIHEAP water program specifically states this place administers it in Hamblen county but when I call I get told a variety of things from Tennessee didn't chose to offer water assistance this year to they are out of funds. I was told this on Oct 1...the day funds became available. Its available in every other TN county, why not Hamblen ? Ì

The people at Douglas Cherokee are very friendly, welcoming, and will try their very best to help when they can. Some times they will go beyond what you would ever think. 💯 If, you are struggling and need help on Lights, Water, or even Rent. They will help you with that when the budget allows them to do so. If, you know someone that's struggling and needs help with those or help finding a home with their budget they can afford to rent. They are the best people and place to go.

A friend of mine lives at Alpine Village. Friends and family used to be able to go outside on nice days to eat and smoke at the picnic tables, NO MORE!!! Because of a couple of other residents who are miserable and nosy complained, the picnic tables were removed. Now there is two small benches. Smoker's have rights also!!
