After attending Court for domestic violence as a witnes. The advocate at the courthouse told me that I could go to The Domestic Violence Center that they could help me out with other things of course The advocate told me to go up there and see if there is anything they could assist me with.

I got there on Wednesday Aug 14 at 12:30 pm and got to speak with Ms Grace. I explained what has happened and my current status of transportation and gave her access to a Google drive she had told me that I could take that paper and sit in the waiting room cause she had a meeting to go to.
I filled out paperwork and seen Ms Rachel which called me back as she was sitting there going through these documents she had me sign a couple of them and there’s a court date set for an order of protection. I looked up at Ms Rachel she said if you don’t attend they’ll dismiss it and I was thinking wow spent half a day here talking and explaining all for nothing.

I call the Wednesday spoke to Ms Grace brought it up about having to go to court and not having transportation to get there she said something about lyft.. I'm like what and she said I can ask for a grant and she can have a lyft driver to come pick me up…lol…ok..i reminded her of my situation…I asked if we could get it rescheduled she said she couldn't reschedule the court date that she would pass this on to the law office that handles their court cases.
Thursday one called me and she said that she couldn't reschedule and that would be up to the courts and of course if I don't show up they're going to dismiss it.

I called today Aug 23 the chancery court said they couldn’t reschedule and that it’s the domestic violence center representatives lawyers that have that ability. I’m back where I started

Then I get a text from an attorney office reminding me of the court date Monday. I sent a text back explaining……..not one response. I called that office and left a message……. not one response

12:30pm to 5:15 pm for nothing

Absolutely the worst help you will receive here. You are better off representing yourself. The Lawyer (Mitch Shannon) will say you have a good case just to get you to pay the turn around and quit on you.

I feel like they failed my son. He isn't from Rutherford but reside there for schooling, he has been abused mentally, physically and emotionally....it seems like the Domestic Court don't care. I didn't feel as if my son had protection...it appears that it's all talk online, no action. Slap on the wrist for many abuser, guess it takes for someone to lose their life. This is sad...sad...sad. shame on you Rutherford county, the Domestic advocate appears nice, but knowledgeable. Just sad.

They pick and chose who they help. I was sent here by Madison County Domestic Violence court officer and this place acted like they was helping, gave me the information and was starting to assist but then out of nowhere refused to help. I gave my police reports, domestic violence papers with the transcript and did not receive any help. They are bold liars and help who they want. They dont use the federal funds as needed. What good is the center if they wont help?
